Ford is really good at self fulfilling prophecies. Don't updated your cars for 8 years & " We will discontinue sedans because they aren't selling!".

They didn’t say they couldn’t sell any they said the market itself was declining which was true - even Camcord sales have dropped a lot.

of course the real answer is there wasn’t enough profit to warrant future investment over other projects.

Most would agree that Ford works towards the answer it wants and by not spending heavily on the 2015 Fusion refresh, the resulting loss of sales and  high series buyers was enough to justify not spending on a next generation mid sized car.

Mid sized car sales peaked for two years in 2014 & 2015. Camry went from 429K to 343K last year. In the same period, Fusion went from 300K to 173K last year. It's a shame that Ford didn't do a bit more with Fusion as I believe mid sized cars is still a worthwhile segment, that value product that buyers appreciate.....maybe there's a clue in there for a possible change of heart/give back to round out production/sales mix....(i wonder if there's been push back from dealers re the ending of Fusion)
