fordex
Took delivery of a new 2019 Explorer Sport last month to replace the 2016 Limited I had since 2015. A few improvements, but with that a few nagging small details: - Assembly had installed a solid black plastic door sill on the driver side instead of the correct illuminated door sill as is on the passenger side Dealer is slow on the warranty claim and getting the part, but s/b an easy fix. - The rear foot-activated lift gate will not open using your foot. Wife’s 2017 Escape Titanium has similar issue. Figure there is a bad sensor in there somewhere. - There is no glove box light installed. The parts site confirms it should be there, but can’t be certain that that’s all it is missing (the switch and bulb housing that snaps into the side) as it would still need a live wiring harness. If anyone has a 19 Sport and knows your vehicle has a light when you open the glove box, please reply. It’s a small thing, but more the principle on an expensive vehicle. Vehicle drives as beautiful as it’s predecessor and no rattles or squeaks yet. I’ve driven a few as rentals and this seems to hold true despite being driven hard. Any feedback from others with liftgate issues/fixes and the presence of a glove box light in a 19 appreciated.
akirby
On the foot operated lift gate, try touching the top of your shoe to the bottom of the bumper about halfway between the center and one side. Like you were punting a football. This works better than waving your foot back and forth.
VoltaicShock
I have had issues with other foot operated lift gates. It seems sometimes it doesn't register. It really sucks when your hands are full.
blwnsmoke
Do you have the tow package? If so, dont kick dead center, you want to kick 6" to the left or right of the hitch.
