New Ford Puma

I can't imagine Ford putting expensive run flat tire on something this low price point. There is probably a tiny spare below the trunk. In fact, the first photo I posted looks like the locking nut for the spare tire.

Most Ford sold in ROW markets no longer come with a spare, most now just come with a can of inflater instead. Ford is notorious for making us pay for a space saver tire over the can of inflater supplied standard.

Mustang comes like that as well.  Mine (which I got off the lot) didn't have one, but I went ahead and got one after the fact after I hit something on the highway in my Flex and the tire split open (it didn't blow open - I was able to just pull over like normal, upon which it was flat) and I had to change the tire.  Obviously without one, I'd be stuck/would have to get a tow.

People in less populated regional areas tend to insist on a spare as part of the purchase deal, if you make enough noise about it, they normallu find a way of giving you one to keep the sale.

Some dealers I would imagine have a bunch on site for that reason

I do not know if I liked the front.  Ford is trying to put the Focus front on all cars and is not being successful (New Escape front US-spec is ugly) but it's better than the Ecosport, that the rear is as straight as refrigerator door.  Puma front end looks like the Chinese Escort Sedan too

Ford have taken Martin Smith's original grill front end designs and bastardized them to the extent that they've managed to make the current generation unattractive.

I honestly didn't think of it at the time.  It was a year ago now, and the dealer is 5 hours away haha.

Nothing like  having a flat in the middle of nowhere and finding no spare tire.

I stopped and changed a flat tire for a lady many years ago, spent the whole time yelling at me about all the people who wouldn't stop and help her, no thanks when done.....very strange person.

Its not just ford, my Audi came that way,  the tried to sell me a space saver for $500. Bought a wheel from one site and the tire from a local tire dealer for a third of the price

I guess my LS has an added feature I didnt know what so popular.  I created a "Drain plug" when I had a leaking issue from my trunk seals, so made a hole in the trunk bottom with a plug for future issues. LOL

Getting more and more common in the U.S. as well, I don't have a problem with it assuming the vehicle has run-flat tires. These really should be standard on Lincolns anyways, and optional on Ford's.

Most people don't change flat tire anyways today, they will call a tow truck to change it on top they don't maintain spare tires, so when the get a flat after 6 years the spare is equally flat or end up using a 10 year old temp spare that is dry rot. For the manufacturer it also cuts down on vehicle weight so gas mileage goes up for CAFE.

The only time I won't change a tire is if I'm on the freeway and it's on the side facing the lanes. I'll call a courtesy van just to have a flashing light behind me that forces people to move over a lane and do it myself anyway

The toll roads where I live send a safety vehicle out to assist when they see breakdowns. Flashing lights and compression bumper on the back of the truck helps, hate to see someone sideswiped

The interior materials look really nice, especially for a cheap crossover. Only complaint is the big bezels on the touch screen,. really wish automakers would shrink those. Makes it look cheap, although somehow this is still one of the nicer looking setups.

Thankfully the flat I got was the right front wheel, so I was able to pull to the right shoulder and be on the outside of the traffic.  I still made sure to be facing the oncoming traffic as best as I could so I could watch in case I needed to jump back.

I could see this doing really well in the US market, especially with the younger woman that like Jeep Renegades, Buick Encores, Honda CR-Vs, etc.

Definitely agree - it's a cute ute, and IMO better looking that the models you mentioned.

Not a deal breaker but I'm not a fan of the usb port lying on the surface by the shifter,  that area in cars accumulates dirt or other particles that could clog up the port, not to mention liquids falling.    Also hope they have a second usb port for the passenger.     The 12v port (fka / cigarette lighter) seems like it may be obsolete soon - though  I guess that needs to stay for now and it has a cover so dirt or water are not an issue.      The passenger airbag light sure takes a prominent position on the dash, seems like they could have come up with a better use of that dash real estate.     Otherwise i agree its a very good looking interior - just hope the base or lower levels look good also.

I can't for the life of me figure out why this isn't coming here.

I think it is because Ford didn't want to invest in a 2nd production site. If Ford has long term plan to stay in South America, I think they would have gone ahead and setup production of Puma in Mexico to replace the Fiesta. But since Ford is probably close to pulling out of South America, it probably doesn't want to spent the money tooling up the production. With potential sales only restricted to North America, this is not the kind o risk that Hackett's Ford like to take.

The Puma seems more like a tall hatchback than a CUV to me, which I think is fine as I'm not a big CUV fan. I waited a few days to comment, as I am now getting used to the styling and I have to say I'm starting to like it, especially the interior! I don't know why they are calling this a Puma, when it could wear a Fiesta Active name. Like Alan Mullaly, I like using brand equity and Fiesta is a world car and not a Europe name like the Puma was when it was a small coupe. I hope it does come here as well.

Because there is already a Fiesta Active...the Active brand is just some cladding added to a hatchback/sedan versions of the Focus/Fiesta.

The Puma is more slotted as a Cute Ute like the HRV

Plus, Fiesta still exists in Europe.
