I do not know if I liked the front.  Ford is trying to put the Focus front on all cars and is not being successful (New Escape front US-spec is ugly) but it's better than the Ecosport, that the rear is as straight as refrigerator door.  Puma front end looks like the Chinese Escort Sedan too

Ew, that looks terrible

At least it's offered with the correct number of pedals

I just don't see the appeal of a stick in a commuter car. If you like driving enough to shift manually, surely you'd be looking for something more exciting?

If it was still 2013 I would have gladly ordered my Fusion with a stick like my dad did. Maybe it's because I generally don't see a ton of stop and go traffic in the areas I typically drive. But then again when I lived out in the shadow of FCA Sterling Heights Assembly and had to take a HEAVILY trafficked route on I-696 to work it didn't bother me either.

I actually really like that!

As a former Puma owner, I'm not keen on them reusing the name, and I'd rather see a new Fiesta based sports coupe. But given that market is now tiny, I'm sure Ford would sell 10x the number of mini-SUVs than they would mini-Sports coupes. I really hope this is a big success for them.

Not bad. And with this huge crossover/SUV wave going on, I could see this guy effectively replacing the Fiesta in the future.

IMO I really like it-the problem is that for some reason or another (at least with Ford) is introduction photos are shot at the same height as a small mammal that is going to run over by it. When you see, your going to be looking Down on it, not up on it like this photos show.

The 2020 Escape headlights mimic the Ford GT headlights (very generally-but I noticed it when I saw a GT in the flesh)-the grill is off the EU Focus.

I really like this! They did a great job. I think it'd be a hit here in the states in it's class.

I believe the US market (and China) is getting a C2- based version of it, which should be better, in principle.

South America, on the other, is getting a Mahindra-based version of it...

Hopefully, in the following generation, with the global implementation of C2, all these cars can merge into one (with small variations to adapt to each market). But then we're in 2028...

I thing between the two of us, we've managed to traumatize radcal X Me with VW based comment and you with Mahindra based.

I better stop, because as much as I like Falcons, he might send a green one after me..LOL

That's right, the Fiesta subcompacts are now grouped together with the former C1s and CD4s under C2

The Puma looks cheeky in the front and a lot of women like that sort of look or styling, it's not my favorite but its's a lot better than a Juke and I think it could do well even if sold alongside Ecosport until it gets replaced. It's all about fresh and variety these days. That 7-speed DCT is a worry, why not a dependable 8-speed auto, the optics of a true auto would play so much better after Powershift debacle.

From what I understand, the DCT used in EU didn't have issues because it was lubricated vs the Powershit transmission that was in the US and assuming Oz Focus.

And I think keeping both Puma and Ecosport (new) on sales matches the plan of having two crossovers in each category (one more urban, the other more rugged, e.g. Escape / BabyBronco, etc)

It’s a bit cartoonish looking to me. Maybe a good alternative to the Toyota CHR if you don’t like it’s sharp edges. I know there’s a market for these super small cuvs, but why would you ever buy something in this class? The designs are usually a bit strange looking, an adult can’t fit comfortably in the back seat, and they cost as much as some mid size sedans that give you a much better package.

im already tired of this interior though. So many vehicles have had a similar interior for so long now, that it makes all of ford’s  “new” interiors already look old.

I actually quite like it - it's cute, and perfect for the segment.  I think it'd do well if it were brought here to the US, but seems like that won't be happening.

An oddity about it for me is the proportion of how big the mirror mount is compared to the mirror itself.  The mirror pillar look giant while the mirror itself looks small.

I can't imagine Ford putting expensive run flat tire on something this low price point. There is probably a tiny spare below the trunk. In fact, the first photo I posted looks like the locking nut for the spare tire.

Edit: It's a drain plug for easy cleaning...

Quote

The storage solution offers a capacity of 80 litres in a space 763 mm wide, 752 mm long and 305 mm deep, which can house unstable items up to approximately 115 cm tall – such as houseplants – in an upright position. Alternatively, with the lid down, the space can be used to conceal dirty sports equipment or muddy Wellington boots. The Ford MegaBox’s synthetic lining and drain plug in the bottom makes it easy to clean with water.

For even greater versatility, the Puma’s boot floor can be easily adjusted using just one hand to suit load requirements, and to hold one of three positions in the cargo area:

  • In the lowest position, the maximum storage volume available while concealing the Ford MegaBox is delivered
  • In the high position, the area underneath increases to create a cargo floor that is level with the fold-flat second-row seats
  • Removed, the floor can be securely stored vertically against the back of the second-row seats for full 456-litre capacity
