How many people really know that? Hell, the amount of people who know the Escape and Kuga are the same vehicle is probably really tiny.

People may not but Google does, When someone searches for Escort and vastly different vehicles appear it causes confusion. Ford tried that once with Fusion, It was a disaster in marketing;  and that is why it became the b-max.

While I was wandering around the Ford display at NAIAS I heard several people refer to the EcoSport as an Escort ?‍♂️

Are you sure you were following the conversation correctly?  May be they were looking for a different type of escort... ?

Most of those workers have left, they are only here for media days then leave for AFC/NFC Championship games weekend. Though not sure how busy they were, not nearly the media in town this year.

Yes, and a trucklet.

I knew about the small pickup-but how many times can you skin a cat with a CUV in the same segment?

Escape-Larger 3 row mainstream CUV

Maverick-slightly smaller tough CUV

Puma-No idea, unless its going to be an entry level product that is a better fit then the Ecosport?

Had another thought-a Puma is just another name for a Cougar-I think the Cougar name would be a better fit in NA at least.

It would basically be an ecosport replacement for North America.   Slightly larger than the current Ecosport but smaller than Escape.  Maverick will have unique styling and a niche all its own.

Sounds like Ford will have a very fresh and competitive lineup of CUV/SUVs in a year or two!

Puma, Maverick, Escape, Bronco, Edge, Nautilus, Explorer, Aviator, Expedition, Navigator.

Pretty comprehensive and relatively new.  Let’s hope they don’t let them all languish for 7 years without a major update.

I think we'll see EcoSport go away for the US (and probably Europe) market, replaced by this other model that'll be more suited for our (and European) tastes, vs. the cheaper EcoSport, which would continue on for other lower-cost countries like India and others.

Jeep doesn't seem to have a problem skinning that cat.

I think if you're able to differentiate them enough, it works.  So you'll have this Puma likely targeting the "on road", same with the new Escape, while the Maverick targets a different audience - the more butch/macho/off road look - albeit in the same segment.

That's why I  suggested that  the small C Puma and Bronco make a lot more sense than Ecosport which is smaller than the competition.

The addition of a Trucklet version based on the Puma would also make and interesting point of differentiation.

(Let's see if the news articles pick on this thread...should we add the CX number for authenticity?  LOL)

There is the baby-Ranger's crossover sibling in there too. Mach E as well.

And the Corsair, baby-Lincoln crossover, and its electric.
