silvrsvt
IMO it looks more like a Fiesta Active-I'm slightly confused by the camo though on it-this type of camo is normally shown off on more finished products then an attrubute mule if it was an Ecosport. The headlight setup is certianly different though.

Perhaps the reason is the absence of Focus 4 and Fiesta 8 and they are compensatory

twintornados
Looks like the start of the new "whitespace" vehicles that Ford was talking about.
silvrsvt
Here was that attrubute mule for the Ecosport from March 2018 https://www.motortrend.com/news/spied-is-this-test-mule-a-new-ecosport-baby-ford-bronco-or-something-else/ The black plastic on this one covers up the funky glass and tacked on seam on the prototype at the link
Assimilator
Really no idea what this is, but it's kinda small, almost looks like a C-Max successor in Crossover form. Edited January 8, 2019 by Assimilator

I suspect this is the only surviving member of it. This might be our Fusion replacement, the so-called Fusion Active. Just guessing here, it seems a little early to see anything but attribute mules. 1 minute ago, jcartwright99 said: Really need another car near it for perspective on how big it actually is. Maverick's had leaked pictures. This car looks nothing like Maverick. The Escape we have already seen and is in the final stage of development (practically ready). What's left is the EcoSport. I don't think Ford would add a fourth vehicle to the B-segment of crossovers We already have B Segment-EcoSport, Maverick, Fiesta Active C Segment-Escape/Kuga, Bronco, Focus Active Edited January 8, 2019 by RadicalX
Fordowner
it looks good and yes interesting lights, would be nice for these "whitespace" vehicles to have unique features, such as headlamps and grills. I thought the Maverick was going to be a small C. Smaller than new gen Escape, but still on the new C platform. Then the Bronco is either next gen T6, or CD6. I forget. But not C. Assimilator
I"m confused by the state of this prototype, it looks like a mule to me so who knows what the final design actually is. I hate those front fenders, if they are any indication of the final design, ha. Edited January 8, 2019 by Assimilator
akirby
Maverick is definitely C2.
Assimilator
I wonder if this is the companion utility for the compact Pickup, but it's a little early for that.
bzcat
One thing we can say for sure... this is not a Fiesta Active based mule. It has completely different body (just look at the the A-pillar... it is missing the triangle window) so it looks more like a prototype. It looks substantially bigger than the current EcoSport, more in line with the size of likely competitors in B-segment.
Assimilator
If this is the CX version of the small Truck, this would be our EcoSport replacement in the US (and probably Europe which also doesn't like the EcoSport). EcoSport will carry on in other markets. It is based on the Fiesta, we saw a 5-lug version of a Fiesta mule a number of months ago. It fits a car between it and Escape

From what it looks like the compact pickup will be based on the Focus/Escape/Maverick platorm, not the EcoSport. After seeing the 2020 Escape, I see that Ford is aiming the Maverick or whatever its called as a traditional SUV looking CUV/Jeep Compeditor/Bronco companion that will carry a price premium over it. Which is also why Ford is expecting less sales for the upcoming Escape-because its price point/market place is getting divided up with the Maverick. I still think we will see a replacement for the Ecosport in price/size in the low end of the market. 44 minutes ago, MKII said: Google Ford BX726 A leaked internal document referring to the negotiations between Ford and the Craiova plant's workers union revealed late last year that the codename for the new model is BX 726, where “B” stands for the B-segment, “X” could stand for crossover and “7” for a seven-seater. That’s pure speculation, mind you, but the fact that Ford needs a new SUV above the EcoSport is all too real.https://drivemag.com/news/ford-confirms-second-model-to-be-built-in-romania-alongside-the-ecosport
akirby
There is a C platform Ute companion to the small pickup that is not Maverick or Escape. I don’t think we’ll get a B platform SUV in NA.

ausrutherford
Ford of Europe hinted a second B-segment crossover to compliment the EcoSport a couple of years ago. This is kind of their Opel Crossland X and VW T-Roc competitor whereas the EcoSport is aimed more along the lines of the Opel Mokka X/VW T-Cross. Basically, the European market has split the B-segment CUV market into sightly different sizes of one another. This is what happened the C-segment CUV market in Europe awhile ago. Ford is responding to the market. If Ford is smart, they will add this here. It's only a matter of time before our B-segment market splits too.
