Escape is the right height and width so it is the perfect mule. I'm guessing this is a suspension test mule. If they use a Focus, they'd have to jury rig the suspension and that may not work for whatever part they are testing. Remember, this is a test mule, not a prototype. It doesn't resemble how the truck will look. We are at least a year away from prototype testing if the launch date is 2021.

T-dubz
I believe the Hyundai Santa Cruz truck will also be this size. It will be based off of the Tucson and will probably come out around the same time. I liked the concept for that truck, but I haven’t seen any mules or spy shots of the production version to see if its staying true to the concept or not. I’m curious to see how these two compact trucks with stack up against each other.

twintornados
According to Wikipedia (take that as you will), C1 has been succeeded by what is now referred to a Global C chassis.. Quote Global C platform The C1 platform has been replaced by the Global C platform (or C-car)[3] and combines three previous platforms as part of Ford's "One Ford" efficiency drive.[4] Ford global C platform vehicles: 2011–present second generation Ford C-Max (C344) and Grand C-Max[4] 2012–2018 Ford Focus[5] 2015–present Ford Escort (China) 2013–present Ford Escape / Ford Kuga (C520)[5] 2013–present Ford Transit Connect[6] 2015–present Lincoln MKC

The Chinese Kuga has the new display already-its basically filling up from the bottom of the current system to the CD player used to be. Assimilator
The Kuga system is not in-house, it's designed by a 3rd party in China. It's not the system we are getting.
