Ranger sales estimate

Definitely fleet. Ranger was selling very little to retail towards the end. Retail customers were steered towards Sporttrac.

Hmmm. Last year for the Sport Trac was 2010 and I don't recall ever seeing a single TV ad for the Sport Trac, at least not the 2nd gen.

If the old Ranger had many years near the 300,000 mark, why would the new Ranger estimates  be so low. ?

This table didn't copy well.

My guess would be sales have gone to Tacoma (not sure what Toyota truck sales were those years) and small sport utilities will hold buyers that might have gone for a Ranger if they didn't exist which for the most part they didn't during Rangers last run.

Thx-looking at these numbers and the hype the truck is getting I would bet 150,000 would be a safe bet-and on low side at that.

My point is:  Why can Jeep make as much as they can sell, but all these Ford models that customers might actually want are 'capacity constrained'?

Jeep Wrangle responded to 30+% increase in sales without even a hiccup!  Seems like you can get any configuration in any color you want as long as you can pay for it...

Because people buying Heeps don't give a flip if it's a pile of junk or not...

And wouldn't it be great to have a vehicle in the Ford portfolio that invoked emotional buying habits like that.

its coming in the guise of the bronco....but I would lay $$$$ on it improving substantially on the jeep as far as QC, drivability/ livability and dependability than Jeep.....

I would be embarrassed as hell to build something like that.

Yeah, wouldn't it be nice to have a vehicle that is increasing in sales 25-30%, is actually built well, you can supply it to your customers, and it is available in an array of color other than 3 shades of silver, black or white.

Now if FCA can just figure out how to build them well they have the grand slam.  Not much incentive though -when they fly off the shelves just at they are.

What are Blue Oval Forums thoughts on whether the introduction of new Ranger will allow Ford trucks to outsell GM trucks in 2019 (U.S. market)?

Easy yes.

Aren't they within 35K or something like that without Ranger - and that's combining 4 trucks to get that figure.

Thank you rmc523 sir. For pickup trucks at the end of 3Q 2018, GM was ahead by 27,738 units sold.

I agree that if the current sales rates continue in 2019, Ford will finally outsell GM. Big question is whether new 2019 Silverado and Sierra sales will increase a lot as production of all versions of those trucks ramp up in 2019.

Tacoma then, is by far the sales leader.  Maybe 200,000 per year.  I'm hoping the Ranger steals some of the Tacoma thunder and challenges for sales leadership.

The Chevy Colorado/Canyon is far and away a better overall truck than Tacoma - and they can't mount a sales leadership challenge against Toyota- why do Ford guys (like me) think that the Ranger will?

Ranger will sell, and may be a better fleet option - but it won't displace Tacoma, especially in retail.

I believe it will eventually be a solid number 2, it just might not happen until MY2020.

A year or more away from Production and two or more years away from having a bunch on the lot in cool colors and various equipment levels that you can actually sell - in this hyper changing, instant gratification world, who knows what will be the 'gotta have' vehicle by then.  I'll take one though, and I am patient.

In the grand scheme of things, why worry about outselling the Taco if you can sell nicely equipped Rangers for a decent profit.

Toyota would kill to sell full sized trucks in the way Ford does, but is that going to happen-most likely not.

I see the Ranger at least eventually being the number 2 nameplate in sales in mid-size truck catagory in the next 24-36 months.
