Overall reliability is worse than past Tacomas. That's where the Ranger will really shine. The 2.3EB has been a good engine. Plus the new 10 speed is spectacular. As long as some engineering snafu doesn't crop up, the Ranger will be more dependable.

It also can't make anyone in the industry happy as this is going to dominate the LA show coverage rather than new models being shown. There was no way GM was going to win at this. They took taxpayer money back in 2008, and closing factories and laying off thousands of workers ain't going to play well in Peoria. Not much they can do but weather the storm. In the U.S. market, XTS customers are mostly in 3 categories. 1. Limousine and livery companies. 2. Other fleet customers such as corporate accounts (company cars for executives) and rental car agencies. 3. Elderly retail customers. By comparison, CT6 targets a younger and wealthier base of retail customers. But this group is migrating away from luxury sedans toward high end pickup trucks and SUVs. Overall, CT6 sales are lower than Mercedes-Benz S-Class, comparable to BMW 7-Series, and higher than Lexus LS and Jaguar XJ.

The board knew this was coming for a while I've been roomers from Jan/Feb this year. You take some one time charges, lower executive compensation, offer more lucrative buyout/job training offers (what was offered to salary was a joke, it was basically nothing) and most of all do it in early Oct so you don't get the play of tossing people on the street during the holiday season. My Coworker had a new Silverado on order and been a GM lifetime buyer, he said today he's getting a RAM, "You don't do that to people during the holidays, F*** them"
