Nissan recommended the immediate removal of its chairman, Carlos Ghosn, on Monday, saying an internal investigation found that he had underreported his compensation to the financial authorities for several years.

The company said in a statement that it was cooperating with Japanese prosecutors. It also said that it had opened its inquiry after a whistle-blower alleged that Mr. Ghosn had been misrepresenting his salary as well as using company assets for personal use.

So basically what every other CEO does?  ?

Well given fact he has been arrested this quickly says to me that this had to be a pretty tight case.  If that happened here we would be looking at ..."suspended pending further investigation, blah blah."

Well at least they did not insist he fall on his sword!

It sounded to me like they've been investigating for months.

Ghosn, 64, allegedly under-reported his income in official stock market filings. He diverted corporate investment funds for personal use. And he misused company expenses, Saikawa said. Ghosn was taken into custody earlier in the day after arriving at a Tokyo airport and charged with similar violations of Japan’s financial laws, local media reported.
