Groverson
So this morning we decided to drive over to Cracker Barrel. It was a cold morning here in Franklin Tennessee. My wife put on the rear window defroster due to ice on the window. We were on the road five minutes and Boom! - the rear window shattered. Such a loud explosion. I guess the window heating coils malfunctioned. The window will be replaced tomorrow but Im worried that this will happen again. What should I do as far as troubleshooting? Thanks! Thats an impressive mess. Did you get an immediate loaner? So far our dealership has been super fast with maintenance and service.... in my driveway within an hour with a loaner. Hopefully youll get answers and a quick fix.
Groverson
No loaner for me. The Navigator is 13 years old. I should have ordered the glass myself and install it. Pretty simple job. The big problem is why did those coils heat up so fast to shatter the glass.
GordonZoo
I had a 2004 1/2 F-150 passenger window shatter while I was driving. No other cars around and it spontaneously shattered. It was 4 yrs old at the time. Took forever to get all the glass out of the carpet. It might not have been the heat but stress
Groverson
Was it during the winter with the rear defroster on? What kind of stress would be on that glass?. I was pulling glass shards out of me hair for a few days....lol
