2020 Explorer/Aviator launch/job1?

Recommended Posts

I noticed that CAP produced 29,000 Explorers last month,

so it looks like Ford is already starting the inventory build up...

Decker had said they were scheduled to go down for 4 months retooling in 2019 so that makes sense

I wish he came around outside of the Employee section more often to confirm.

Thanks-so they are basically going down early next year to retool then the Escape goes down after that.

I'll know when theyre gearing up to start Escape (and MKC/Corsair) production. We make the front floor pans for them here at MAP North Stamping. They've actually been building trials between shifts on Saturday/Sunday to teach the new robots. I believe theyre building parts for TT builds now but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I thought the HEV was getting the 3.0EB like the Interceptor

Or am I getting confused among the speculation?

I think the consensus was that Aviator gets the 3.0 PHEV and Explorer would just get the 3.3L HEV but I can’t remember if that was based on something tangible or just rampant speculation.

Well, we saw those documents that talked about the PIU options.

It sounds like the PIU will offer a standard hybrid (presumably the 3.3L) and the optional 3.0L hybrid used in the police tests (for pursuit rated vehicles I presume).

The question is whether the civilian Explorer will get the 3.0L hybrid or just the 3.3L.  I'd like to see both but marketing may want to keep the 3.0L exclusive to Lincoln on the civilian side.

The PI and Regular Explorer will use just the 3.0L TT, no hybrid.  Export Explorers however will also get the PIug-in option. The new Explorer is going to be sold around the world again.
