SoonerLS
This shouldn't be a shock. Until the Ranger can accommodate a V engine, they can't build a Ranger Raptor that will fly in the US.
akirby
This has been known for months. Nobody wants a 2.0L diesel Raptor Ranger here in the states. It will have to wait for the next gen.
Assimilator
There is no sign of Ranger Raptor on the product calendar for the US through 2024. Edited October 19, 2018 by Assimilator
T-dubz
Wish theyd sell a version with the raptor body kit or something similar. Maybe just make the fx4 a little more rugged looking.
Assimilator
It depends on how well Ranger does, but I imagine we could see alternative trim levels.
jpd80
Reliably informed RR was only ever developed as a 2.0 diesel

blksn8k2
Let's see, no regular cab, no V6, no diesel, no Raptor....what do all those things have in common? They are all available on the F-150 but not the NA Ranger that has taken them how many years to "develop"? But hey "We are not afraid to compete with ourselves". bzcat
I supposed Ford can always offer a more beefed up FX4 with Ranger offroad bits (sort of like Colorado ZR2) if there is really a demand for something like it. But I think Ford should look into a Ranger Lighting instead. Turn up the boost on the 2.3 and replace the Focus RS in the line up (in the US). Regular cab, maybe, maybe not, but it is patently obvious that what we'll see at the reintroduction of the Ranger isn't even close to the full lineup. rperez817
they can't build a Ranger Raptor that will fly in the US. Literally and figuratively! Ford Raptors are meant to be airborne.

This Ranger took less than two years to develop, it's basically a piggyback of the final Gen 1 Refresh

North America requested a Ranger around two years ago, just after the final refresh on Gen 1 Global Ranger and Raptor was locked in. Ford now the 2.3 Ecoboost and 10-speed should prove to be a surprisingly effective response given the limitations imposed. The first vehicle on Gen 2 T6 architecture will be Bronco Approx Late 2020, the NG Ranger Approx late 2021 which is still around three years form now - North America wanted a vehicle long before then...so this is it. The competition stopped selling regular cabs a long time ago. The diesel is coming. Can’t have a Raptor without a V6 and the current platform won’t accommodate a V6. You should get all that when the new platform is ready in 2-3 years.
jpd80
T6 teams are now working on Gen 2 products, .all work on Gen 1 Ranger ended with completion of North American Ranger. It's time to stop grizzling about what you're not getting and concentrate on what you are getting, a Turbocharged 1-4 and 10-speed auto that other manufacturers would kill to have. Yes, Ford would have loved a V6 Ranger but it just wasn't possible for now. Edited October 19, 2018 by jpd80
Assimilator
It also doesn't hurt to gradually mature your Ranger lineup over generations instead of launching everything at once up front. It gives Ford time to learn and adapt to a customer they haven't had before and gradually move them up market. There is also a certain degree of divergence with Ranger, I could see US Ranger and Global Ranger going in different development directions.
