rmc523
Where there's smoke there's fire? --- The only chance this has is if it's put in another product too - namely Mustang as jalopnik mentioned.
Sevensecondsuv
They did provide some evidence in the jalopnik article. Fingers crossed here - although a manual trans in a vehicle aimed squarely at the Jeep Wrangler shouldn't be too surprising. Of course this would open doors for Ranger too, and assuming this replaces the MT-82, that means all the volume for ROW ranger too. That also means this trans would replace the MT-82 in mustang. That would make sense, and also means mustang would go 7-spd. I wonder what that does for fuel economy and 1/4 mile times. akirby
Hasn't fuzzy mentioned that possibility? I thought there was a rumor there wouldn't be a 2 door but the insiders said there definitely was a 2 door.
fuzzymoomoo
I thought there was a rumor there wouldn't be a 2 door but the insiders said there definitely was a 2 door. 100% there is a 2 door. Ford also said publicly on 2 different occasions there is a 2 door.
jasonj80
Makes sense as the Bronco and the Ranger are going to be sold around the world where manuals are more loved.
fordmantpw
I thought there was a rumor there wouldn't be a 2 door but the insiders said there definitely was a 2 door. Sounds like it's all clear! 100% there is a 2 door. Ford also said publicly on 2 different occasions there is a 2 door. Woohooo!!!
Sevensecondsuv
Now let's just hope they don't limit the manual trans to 2-door only. I don't think Wrangler sales mix warrants such a decision, but Ford is famous for this sort of thing...

Twin Turbo
That also means this trans would replace the MT-82 in mustang. That would make sense, and also means mustang would go 7-spd. I wonder what that does for fuel economy and 1/4 mile times. That got my attention! The MT-82 has always been a bit of a weak link for the Mustang. Finger's crossed this is put in the next-gen Mustang!
Sevensecondsuv
Fingers crossed it's actually an improvement over the MT-82 and not just an additional gear. Although it seems Ford has fixed a lot of those issues since they first appeared in mustang.
bzcat
For sure it will be used in other vehicles too. Guessing the next gen Mustang and Ranger and perhaps the Transit.

Assimilator
Ford is getting a little less predictable but I still have a hard time buying this one. Bronco is more of a desert runner anyway, Ford has said it's more interested in performance than off-roading. But Bronco is a strange character from the get go. I actually had completely forgotten Ford still had manuals besides Mustang. Edited October 9, 2018 by Assimilator

Deanh
Assimilator...Ford has confirmed there is a version that aims directly at the Wrangler...not a desert runner in the slightest...Did get informed by the Dealer principle that theres an unveling of a unibody ehicle to be viewed at their next Dealer get together that's also aimed at Jeep....head scratching on that one ( baby bronco? ) Edited October 9, 2018 by Deanh
