twintornados
270 HP and 310 ft.lbs. torque 7,500 lb. towing capacity Best in class gas engine torque and towing ! . Yes, but no available diesel and Colorado/Canyon twins outfitted with their available oil burner can tow 7700 lbs. My opinion is since the engine bay cannot accommodate a V6 (as we have been told)....Ford should offer the 3.2L I5 diesel for North America which IS available in ROW Ranger....my guess would be Ranger max towing with the I5 Powerstroke would easily hit 8,000 lbs tow capability. The problem is, the I5 is a larger displacement motor than the new 3.0L Powerstroke V6 that is now available in F150... Awkward.... Assimilator
"Oh but it's not a V6, Ford sucks! No wonder they are tanking and cancelling cars!" No company can shutdown the "skeptics" like Ford does . Edited October 7, 2018 by Assimilator
captaindan
Do you want 2 more cylinders, or more torque and towing capacity ? So, buy a GM and get out-towed by the Ranger !
captaindan
Yes, but that's if one wants a diesel, and at the higher price point. The diesel is a slow seller in the GM twins. For gas engine smaller pickups which are far more popular, the Ranger takes the honors.

NLPRacing
The new Ranger has more horsepower, nearly as much torque and can tow almost as much as my old 2001 F150 SuperCrew. That's impressive.
YT90SC
AS to the I-5 in Ranger, won't happen in North America. It won't meet NVH goals in the truck. NLPRacing- Shares nearly the same dimensions as a 10th Gen too.

captaindan
200 lbs. of additional towing capacity wouldn't sway me to a diesel...in a Ford or GM. That's small potatoes...and who wants DEF fluid ? That the Ranger has the bragging rights for gas engines is totally significant...as that's what almost everyone purchases in trucks smaller than 250/2500 series.

Seriously, it's not near the big deal that folks without a diesel make it out to be.
Assimilator
GM's small diesels are notoriously terrible, go read any reviews on them.
captaindan
Just another expense...on top of the high cost of the diesel option. Great on a F250-F550.

If you want to complain about maintenance costs, do that, but you can't legitimately complain about DEF costs. Seriously, in 13k+ miles, I've spent maybe $25 for DEF in my F350.

Outrageous!
