Locking the drive mode

docup!

Recommended Posts

Wow, that is a change from the 2017 Continental. I have regular drive set to "comfort" and sport to "normal" and it has stayed that way since I drove it off the lot. Only exception was when I was drag racing it when I set it to "sport."

I realize the Navi is a completely different beast but I wonder why they would make the driver adjust it every time they start the vehicle.

There is no S button on the shifter like other vehicles. You can select the drive mode (normal, excite (sport), conserve (eco), slippery etc but it looks like it always defaults to Normal. That’s the same as my F150 except the names are different.

My Mustang defaults to normal but that is understandable. The more aggressive modes reduce or eliminate stability control and likely make the exhaust illegal. My 2016 would stay where I set it so maybe Ford's lawyers made a decision to make normal the default for all 2018 models.

I have not spent any time on this concern. But just thinking without actually researching. I wonder if that mode get stored with the seat memory? I remember the old continentals that had the suspension settings and steering settings go those would go back with seat memory. So maybe set everything then store your memory seat

Good point on the seat Memory, but tried that along with programming the key on the display.... no luck

Ford should at least allow an option to retain that setting or allow it to default back. Wonder if its a epa regulation like auto start stop that it has to default to on, or in this case normal. To think about it every other Ford the sport setting or tow/haul setting defaults to normal after a key cycle.

That memorizer that Akirby linked looks super cool. May be the best option unless Ford gets enough complaints and makes a reflash.
