Interesting tidbit here:

Were trying to run our business to optimize value for the customers and our profitability and weve had a very stable share performance," LaNeve said. "Were looking forward to getting out in Las Vegas in two weeks with our dealers and showing them everything thats coming next year.

Guess we will be hearing more about the Escape and Explorer soon.

Well because I know youre one of the ones concerned about styling, I can officially tell if if you were hoping for a retro inspired style you will be very happy.

If the covered products they where showing off in the powerpoint presentation was any indication-it seems like it dips very heavily into the early Bronco styling.

With that said-I thought Retro died off 12 years ago :)

The draped Bronco has some pretty striking and iconic proportions with that narrowed and boxy greenhouse. I consider Mustang's design to be very retro, but clearly modern. I'm sure that's the case for Bronco. Ford labors design decisions like nobody and I know. They also need to get the technology foundation right as well which is locked to a development cycle. Bronco has been late to come back for decades, but getting it right is critical to making it stay this time.

From what I have seen of it, that is indeed the case with the Bronco. There is only one thing I can think of that people might be disappointed with concerning something relatively minor but I won't share that right now.

If I had to guess what that is, I'd guess the disappoint is that you can't take the whole roof off, and instead it has some sort of panoramic sunroof, which loyalists won't feel is right. Or it is no V8 planned.

That may not be a minor thing however. My less reliable sources tell me the roof is modular like a Wrangler. If the Bronco can't be a convertible, then I would certainly prefer Wrangler since an open top is what distinguishes this from an average SUV like a Toyota 4-Runner or Ford Everest. I don't really expect Bronco to be as flexible as Wrangler, but it doesn't really have to be....but an open top is absolutely mandatory...IMO. But I realize the Wrangler requires a very specialized roll-frame to make that work, so perhaps Bronco has to take a more limited approach.

No, it's not that. It involves how the spare tire mounts to the back.

I'm not 100% sure how the roof operates but it looks to be similar to the Wrangler.

People will go back and forth on those potential issues but see the complete package before judging......

We're just hearing how the 3.0 EB PI Ute dusted off the 5.7 Charger.....imagine how that transposes to 3.0 EB Bronco...Mmmmm.

The previous PI sedan (Police SHO) was the winner in most of MSP's tests. The Explorer was darn close last year too

The MSP's tests are here and are an interesting read.

I'm gonna assume its center mounted vs offset like it has been in years past due to impact standards.

Wasn't it on this site somewhere that Bronco will only be turbo 4s?

3.0 is decent, but it would be much better with the Mustang Coyote.

Thankfully not the roof. Not being able to remove the roof in some substantive way would have been a nonstarter for me.

Could we at least get the thread lead fixed...Ford wasn't 'outsold' by Fiat....they were outsold by FCA....Thats like saying Buick outsold Ford.....

....and, yes, I know the title of the Bloomberg article is the same, Keith Naughton is a dope of Titanic proportions.

Boy, look at the non cars piling up sales! Oops...that ain't happening either.

So sad to see what the Ford has become. I fear it's only going to get worse. Word on the street is that Ford is going under and selling the truck division to VW. I know that's false, but, this is the public perception that the current management group has put out.

Where's Mullaly? Hell, where's Jac Nasser?

They did the stupid thing of pulling the sedan plug before the new utilities arrive to offset the losses. So what we're seeing now is tanking sedan sales on top of the aging utility declines.
