Cadillac Moving Headquarters Back to Detroit

I never understood the move to NYC. They moved to a city where most people don't own a car. Atlanta/Miami/Dallas/Houston/LA would have all been a much better option.

The New York metropolitan area is one of the largest markets for luxury vehicles in the country.

About 45 percent of households in the city own a car (and that's just households in the city - this figure doesn't include households in the suburbs). That still equates to 1.4 million households in the city that own at least one vehicle (and some households own more than one vehicle).

Thanks to its sheer numbers, the New York metropolitan area is still a significant market for new vehicles. Whether it was wise for Cadillac to move its headquarters there is another matter.

LA is the largest market for luxury cars in the world, they should have moved there if they were going for that.

Speaking about the turnaround, one factor that wasn't seen 15 years ago GM had several "tweener" divisions (Saturn, Hummer..), now it's down to 4 . In areas I see BMW, Audi and so where Lincoln, Caddy, Buick once dominated, the luxury sedan market had gone to the imports, all Caddy have to do is adjust as well as maintain their identity.

Buick is a transitional division as I see newer ones in blue-collar/white-collar areas also it's in a spot where Olds/Saturn once stood. Besides China, Buick needs to laser focus on Lexus/Genesis like look, feel and value.

Chevy is in a spot where Pontiac once stood also, they need more basic performance variety amongst the cars and trucks.

GMC needs more luxury off-road products.

.

Well, since Cadillac was originally the Henry Ford Company and Henry Leland bought it in 1902 (creating Cadillac from it) after Hank walked away from it to go on and create the Ford Motor Company. I would say, why not?

Because GM wouldnt do that. They have childish ways about them. Of course the Ren Cen was a ford investment but GM would not really say that Im sure. If they did, then they bought it to make it better. Which they did remodel it.
