That 48V hybrid system should be adoptable to gasoline engine so it will be interesting to see if Ford rolls it out in the US.

Ford is also introducing the production Transit Custom PHEV at IAA Hannover show - 1.0 Ecoboost + PHEV + 8 speed auto.

The fullsize US Spec Transit is 2020 model year I believe so sometime in 2019. It should get the new 10 speed auto but I have no guess on which engine it will use... The 3.7 V6 is on the way out so perhaps the new 3.3 V6 will be the new base engine? The 3.2 I5 also has uncertain future... it is being phased out in Transit in Europe (that's what the new 185hp 2.0 EcoBlue is for) but still available in Ranger, at least for another year or so. And 3.5 Ecoboost should stick around as long as Ford makes it for F-150. I'm curious if Ford will offer a 2.0 Ecoboost Transit with the 48V mild hybrid system. That combo is slated for a bunch of C2 vehicles in the next few years so maybe it will also find a home in Transit.
