Hard Driver
I was talking to a guy who recently bought a 2018 F-150 and he said one of the main reasons he got a 5.0 was because the fuel pump is not in the gas tank so it's not a big repair if it goes. I know there is a secondary fuel pump "booster" on the engine but am I mistaken that the main fuel pump is in the tank on all F-150s? MY93SHO
In tank fuel pump PFS1227 (9H307) https://parts.ford.com/shop/en/us/fuel-injection-and-pumps/sender-and-pump-assy-7791563-
YT90SC
Low pressure pump (about 100 psi) feeds the port fuel injectors and the high pressure fuel pump is in the tank. The high pressure fuel pump (about 2200 psi) that feeds the direct injectors is on the engine. Your friend is ill informed. akirby
Silly reason to choose one engine over the other even if it was true.
Hard Driver
Thanks for the replies. Yes, it would be a dumb reason to make an engine choice. Edited September 25, 2018 by Hard Driver
