Ford recalling 2 million F-150 for seatbelt issues

Recommended Posts

From what Ive read this morning, This recall will just be some shielding and insulation rework.

Actually the recall is out and no special parts. Basically they are removing or covering anything that could be ignited next to the discharge side of the pretensioners.

Yep. Remove any foreign debris, certain insulation and tape up the area. I think it is more of a "whoops we put somewhat flammable insulation next to an ignition source". So far there is a lot of scuttlebutt about build sheets and other foreign materials in the areas too.

This does not surprise me. Ive heard of this happening if trim pieces arent fitting properly, and management turns a blind eye in order to keep their almighty production numbers instead of fixing the problem. This was a huge thing with the headliners of early FRAP built Fusions, balls of paper (build sheets) in select spots were used to keep the headliners from coming loose and flopping around.
