MKII
Problem with all the high trim lines doing so well the last couple months of inventory is 99% Trend/Business (SE) spec left over. Dealerships in Estonia have 2 Foci remaining and as I understand MK4 will not arrive until late September.
Assimilator
Interesting to see Ranger sales this significant in Europe. Kuga and EcoSport are now Ford's 2nd and 3rd bestselling vehicles behind Fiesta. Edited August 17, 2018 by Assimilator
ice-capades
Have to wonder why Ford is losing money in Europe if they're doing so well sales wise.
bzcat
Have to wonder why Ford is losing money in Europe if they're doing so well sales wise. Cost of doing business in 20 different countries selling 100k vehicles a month is a lot higher than selling 200k vehicles a month in a single country (US) Just think of all the marketing materials that has to be translated into Finnish, Hungarian, Norwegian, and Romanian... and that's before we get to the EU50 markets.
jpd80
Also cost of delivering new Fiesta and Focus in fairly quick succession. Not sure if the new 2.0 TD and 10AT has been rolled out in Ranger yet but it should give a decent bump in sales. I'm impressed at how Ecosport sales have kicked on, I hope the next gen builds on that and new Kuga/Escape should increase sales when it arrives next year.. Assimilator
Not to mention Ford's US vehicles are considerably more expensive and profitable. Ford's Europe operation is very weak in utilities and their volume business is in unprofitable cars. Their handful of utilities/trucks and their vans are the only money making parts of their business now. mackinaw
Ford of Europe had a record profit of 1.2 billion dollars in 2016. "Brexit" hurt them terribly in 2017. Until that sorts itself out, and Ford gets some newer cars (Focus), profits in Europe will be a challenge.

Confusing when Ford often quotes the very rich product mix for their passenger vehicles, for the past few years, something like over 75% of them are either ST, Titanium or Vignale models. There's something deeper to this and Ford is using it as a reason for change..
