Help with production date for 2001 Cougar?

Hi all. Not sure where to post this, so I will try here. I was hoping someone (perhaps ice-capades or cyberdman) could provide me with the actual production date for a particular vehicle. It is a 2001 Mercury Cougar. VIN 1ZWFT61L715627143. The window sticker itself is dated 8/13/01.

 

There is a unique and funny background story, in case you are wondering why I am trying to find the date.

 

I factory ordered the car new for my wife in 2001. We have had the car ever since then until June. At that time, we gave it to my niece and nephew right after my factory ordered 2018 Lincoln MKZ arrived on 5/31. They are twins, turning 17 this coming week on 8/15, and going for their drivers test and licenses that same day. My sister, my brother-in-law and I are in the midst of doing some basic work to get it back to perfect running condition (front/rear brakes, some suspension work etc.).

 

I am teaching my nephew how to drive the manual transmission and he will take possession of the Cougar. My niece will be taking possession of a 2004 Hyundai Elantra (Boooooooo!) which my sister inherited from a friend. He wanted the Cougar, and now they won't be fighting over the use of one car, so it works out well.

 

So while talking to her on the phone just now, I realized that the kids, and the Cougar, were born the same month and year, and possibly the same day in 2001.

When I told my sister that I just realized the car may have the same birth date as the twins, she was intrigued. I was able to find the window sticker, but am assuming the date on the sticker is similar to my new car. A processing date, not the actual production date. So I told her about the Blue Oval Forums and that I would ask if anyone may be able to help.

 

Anyway, if anyone can help me obtain that actual production date, I would be forever grateful. Thank you for taking the time to read and thank you in advance for any help that can be given.

Hi fordtech1. Thank you very much for finding that information for me. I just called my sister and let her know the Cougar is 9 days younger than the twins!

 

It certainly sounds correct, because I do know the Warranty start date was 9/11/01. I was supposed to pick the car up the afternoon of 9/11, but when the attacks took place, the Dealership called and asked me to postpone, because the wife of the sales manager worked in the towers and he had not been able to contact her. Luckily, she was okay. I purchased the car the next day, but they had not changed the paperwork from the prior day.
