Cadillac can try by all means but I doubt that it will result in any major bump in sales.

We're now seeing the rusted on premium and luxury car buyers hanging in there

while everyone else has moved on to Utilities and trucks.

I think the moment has passed with RWD luxury cars and this is just GM throwing

good money after bad in the hopes that something magical will happen.

On the contrary China sales are on fire, both cars won't be US only, if anything the chief concern on the current ATS/CTS is the passenger room which I assume they fixed.

And with cheap fwd cars dying (XTS), Camaro having it's cost spread and the 2 new utilities coming online think GM is satisfied with the ROI on the Alpha Cadillacs.

On one level I agree with you, but new Cadillacs are being designed as much for the Chinese market as for the North American one. Have the Chinese moved as decisively to SUVs/crossovers as the North Americans have?

Yes, as has Europe. Difference is you're dealing with a market that is 28 million units and growing. Why the Mondeo (and Taurus) is getting an update in China and dropped everywhere else.
