Quote from the article:

The 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 would have been a worthy replacement in the U.S. But now it seems the truck and a gasoline engine are unlikely to make it stateside. Ford has yet to confirm if the U.S. will get the pickup. And it sounds like the plan from the beginning was to keep the Ranger Raptor in other markets.

Article seems to think this ranger raptor wont even make it to the US

The current Ranger cant fit a V6 between the fenders, something the upgraded T6 will be fixing starting with the Bronco.

When you think about it, Ranger is currently sold into 200 markets, 99% of them are diesel oriented.

Except for Australia and North America, I bet the rest of the world would reject a Ranger with a petrol engine.

2006 was a gut punch when the US decided to step back from T6 Ranger, that took any change of a gas V6 off the table...

So now that the US is on board, it's full steam ahead with gasoline engines in V6 and Ecoboost.- first stop, Bronco.

The Ranger Raptor is not coming to the US and never was in the planning. The next chance for a Ranger Raptor will be in 2023 with a complete redesign, depends on how well it does in the US.

I find that hard to believe that it will take nearly 5 years for the Ranger to be redesigned to take a V6 engine-if Anything foresee a MCE with the improved Bronco chassis in 2021 or so that would allow it.

Its not like a unibody car that would require a significant change to fit a bigger engine into its engine bay

Gasoline Ranger Raptor probably also go over really big in the GCC. Ford selling lots of F-150 Raptor there.

Here in Oz, anything with 4 wheels is a car. A sedan is a car, an SUV is a car, a truck is a ute is a car. A "truck" is more like your Freightliner / Mack / Kenworth tractor. Don't get hung up on it

Car is an odd name. I'd have called them chazzwazzers.
