We strapped the VBox to the Ranger Raptor and recorded a 0-100km/h time of 10.4 seconds" More at link. Moosetang
Pretty glowing review, nits aside, and looks like it's certainly worthy.
Assimilator
They describe the engine as gutless which is not exactly what I want to hear on this vehicle, but it has a very specific use-case.
pictor
I do think that the engine wouldn't cut it here in NA. It will need to wait for HiPo Six. We are spoiled
jpd80
Trust me, we all want to see Ecoboost V6 and thats why USA is waiting for Gen 2 T6 Bronco and Explorer will tell you all you need to hear about Fords V6 RWD engines.
tbone
I am surprised they put such a weak motor in this Ranger, but I assume there was a reason for it.

Ford has yet to confirm if the U.S. will get the pickup. And it sounds like the plan from the beginning was to keep the Ranger Raptor in other markets. Article seems to think this ranger raptor wont even make it to the US Edited July 25, 2018 by T-dubz
sullynd
I bet we get it next gen, and that there will be Ranger, F150, and Bronco Raptors. This version would get lambasted here.

ANTAUS
Yeah bring that "Raptor" with that engine here and I'll be the first to nickname it "Lizzard"...
jpd80
When you think about it, Ranger is currently sold into 200 markets, 99% of them are diesel oriented. Except for Australia and North America, I bet the rest of the world would reject a Ranger with a petrol engine. 2006 was a gut punch when the US decided to step back from T6 Ranger, that took any change of a gas V6 off the table... So now that the US is on board, it's full steam ahead with gasoline engines in V6 and Ecoboost.- first stop, Bronco. akirby
It sure would. That motor would not be acceptable here. But it's not made for here, it's made for the current Ranger market. It's a good vehicle for the intended market.
Assimilator
The Ranger Raptor is not coming to the US and never was in the planning. The next chance for a Ranger Raptor will be in 2023 with a complete redesign, depends on how well it does in the US. I find that hard to believe that it will take nearly 5 years for the Ranger to be redesigned to take a V6 engine-if Anything foresee a MCE with the improved Bronco chassis in 2021 or so that would allow it. Its not like a unibody car that would require a significant change to fit a bigger engine into its engine bay

jpd80
Truthfully, it's going to be quicker to offer something like Bronco there.

justins
Here in Oz, anything with 4 wheels is a car. A sedan is a car, an SUV is a car, a truck is a ute is a car. A "truck" is more like your Freightliner / Mack / Kenworth tractor. Don't get hung up on it ?
