Anthony
Brought the Focus in to the dealer because it was making a droning noise between 60-70 mph. Totally had it pegged as a bad wheel bearing. Imagine my face when they called and let me know the noise was actually coming from the trans and they were ordering new clutches for it. This literally happened in the span of a day. Ive been gloating that Ive had no trans problems. Looks like Ill have to eat crow and join the rest of those with clutch replacements. Crud.
fuzzymoomoo
At least the newest clutch revision has been the most reliable yet

twintornados
Make sure you have this for dessert... seriously, you had a pretty good run...how many miles on the clutch(es)?
Anthony
Make sure you have this for dessert... seriously, you had a pretty good run...how many miles on the clutch(es)? 53,500 miles. The thing that surprised me the most is that it was not a gradual thing, it just outright began making noise one day. I've not heard that being a symptom (droning noise), which led me to believe it was wheel bearings. Oh well. I even told the service writer, "even though I'm surprised, I guess I should have expected my time to come." He even said..."oh, you know about these cars, eh?" lol
AlRozzi
What year is your car, Anthony? I seem to recall it being a '14. My '13 Red Focus with 77K has a manual trans which has worked out well.
Assimilator
How much does this repair cost or is it covered under an extended warranty?
Anthony
It's a '14, but I bought it in Jan of '15 (end of year clearance!). Its all covered under warranty. I had bought a 7/100k from Flood Ford (crossing myself right now).
Schpark
My 2008 Manual Focus is at 165,000 on the original clutch.
fuzzymoomoo
My 2008 Manual Focus is at 165,000 on the original clutch. I got 185,000 out of mine (manual, same year) before it finally went. Another member here had a 2009 manual That was I think at about 210,000 on the original clutch before he traded it for his manual 2016. fuzzymoomoo
Yep, fuck that. It was worth the $2000 I paid for the dealer to do mine.
YT90SC
Watching him work/talk is PAINFUL. He does several things wrong, and uses incorrect terminology throughout.
