Any Improvement?

Has Mustang gone with the one piece driveshaft at all? At least in 2013 they were 2 piece. Many moved to the one section and claims are it is a big improvement. So why in particular one type or the other, which is superior, but why? So am in the middle, not looking to the past but towards the next generation.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both.

Two piece can control driveline harmonics better. So less NVH (noise, vibration and harshness). It can also allow for higher driveline angles than a one piece due to more joints available. Balancing 2 short shafts is easier than one long one and locating carrier bearings correctly will help further control NVH.

One piece is generally lighter and less complex. Lighter shafts mean less rotational inertia, so less parasitic loss. However, long shafts can turn to spaghetti at high shaft rpm.
