They've been changing incentives every few days in our Market which is driving dealerships crazy. We lost another Fusion deal with a current owner and a long term customer who just couldn't absorb the approximately $100/month payment bump on the Fusion he wanted. We could meet his payment requirement on a different (SUV) vehicle but he was adamant about a sedan. We lost the deal to Mazda. Ford created a mess when they announced that they were going to discontinue all car models except for Mustang. Then they tried to "walk it back" to a point by saying that the Fusion would still be available. Then they told Dealers in the Northeast about the new marketing plan for the 2019MY Fusion restricting stock inventory to Fusion Hybrid models only that would be supported with increased standard equipment and incentives. Now they're reversing that decision but the damage was already done. The demise of the Fusion is going to be a self fulfilling prophecy in good part because of Ford's mismanagement. ice-capades
16 hours ago, fuzzymoomoo said: I've always wondered. What does cleanup scheduling mean? It's just another step in the scheduling process to schedule allocation from the previous week that didn't schedule due to commodity issues, etc. During the monthly scheduling period, allocation that doesn't get scheduled in a particular week rolls over to the following week. When they get to end of the month's scheduling period they use cleanup scheduling to get any remaining allocation scheduled to keep the plant production schedule full. The cleanup scheduling is subject to available commodity constraints which can mean that Dealers can be forced to take vehicles they don't want. That's what the cleanup scheduling is about basically. Hope this helps.

Yes. Specifically... Retail Orders won't be selected for scheduling until after the "OK to Buy" status is achieved meaning retail orders won't be built until about 6 weeks after the "OK to Buy" status is achieved. Sometimes Dealers will order customer orders as "Stock" units in order to get them scheduled and built prior to the "OK to Buy" status. Is it a desire to get cars onto showroom floors for walk-ins to consider, as opposed to cars that will be in and immediately out to people already committed to buy? Is it a desire to get cars onto showroom floors for walk-ins to consider, as opposed to cars that will be in and immediately out to people already committed to buy? Not at all. It's the desire to make sure that sold vehicles are shipped as soon as they are built and that they are of the highest quality. Early builds have problems. They build them and inspect them and they keep building them until they go 5 consecutive days with no problems. At that point they give the OK to buy and start shipping straight off the assembly line. Then they have to go back and reinspect and repair all the previously built vehicles. Sometimes these early builds can sit at the factory for a few weeks before shipping. It's possible that an early build arrives at the dealer before a retail (sold) order but it's also possible that it arrives weeks later. It's just safer to wait on all counts.
