Knew this was coming . .

Ford follows Chevrolet's move to the Camaro this year in putting their muscle cars in NASCAR's top series. Ford has used Mustang as its body style in the Xfinity Series since 2011.

"Mustang is a car that is woven into the fabric of our country, and it's only right that we put it on the track in NASCAR's most visible series," Ford board member Edsel B. Ford II said. "I can't wait."

Hope the body shell looks better than the Xfinity Mustang.

There is not much shared between the Camaro bodies in Xfinity (SS) and Cup (ZL1). The Cup body at least looks a little more realistic. Let's hope the same holds true for the Mustang. The Xfinity bodies are also composite. Not sure when the Cup series plans to switch from the current steel bodies but 2019 would make sense for Ford what with an all new body....

There is a rumor going around that Chevy is updating the Xfinity series nose for next year.
