Dustyw2019
Sources familiar with Fords production plans told Reuters the automaker now expects to begin building the new Lincoln Aviator in China in late 2019 or early 2020, along with replacements for the MKC compact crossover and the MKZ midsize sedan, followed in 2021 by the all-new Nautilus, which replaces the Lincoln MKX crossover. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-ford-motor-china/ford-to-ramp-up-lincoln-rollout-in-china-in-bid-to-catch-rivals-sources-idUSKBN1HJ003
rmc523
Makes a lot of sense to me. This will allow them to either lower the MSRP for the vehicles, meaning increased sales, or maintain current pricing and make more profit on each unit sold, by not having to pay to import them. I think we'll see it somewhere in between - lowering MSRP and getting more profit. This will also free up US capacity for US production. jpd80
It also allows Lincoln to shorten the waiting time for customers and that's a big plus in China. Getting decent inventory levels would also mean more walk ins get cars super quick too.
Radius
Seems like they need to move the Nautilus and MKC up. The competition is fierce and they need to shorten the time lines for these vehicles. Some of the new technology, like the the new 8/9-speed transmissions, are need now.
