2016 Front Windscreen Wipers Stopped Working

Hi All

Had something strange happen whilst driving home from work in heavy ice rain/snow.

My front wipers just decided to stop working.

They were not frozen, it was not a blown fuse, just no response from wipers at all.

Put heated screen on + heating full blast onto window to stop from freezing up and aid visibility whilst driving until safe to stop.

Once stopped, no matter what was tried, wipers would not respond.

It was not until I turned off and restarted engine that wipers once again started working.

Was wondering if anyone else has come accross this problem.

My car going into dealers soon to get this looked at under warranty.

You didn't say what year the Edge is. IF they have two independent motors (one pivot on each side of the windshield) they 'time' themselves electronically through a LIN network. If they get out of time, experience blockages or get in a situation where they can overtemp/overcurrent either motor, it will suspend operation until the issue goes away, usually after a key cycle.

If its a single motor connected by a physical transmission (one pivot on driver's side and one in the center) it doesn't have to worry about timing, it just overheated.
