These numbers give a view of our union...…

"Williams explained that 2015 Big Three Bargaining showed the union’s strength."

Strength? How many tiers? Any member reach legacy hourly rate?

“Big Three bargaining demonstrated how our democratic process worked,” he said. “In 2015, negotiating at GM, FCA and Ford protected health care, improved retirement and addressed job security.” When voters turned initial contracts down, it proved a very important point. “I said when that happened it was not a setback, it was a part of our process,” Williams added.

Improved Retirement?

Addressed job security?

FCA voting down the contract wasn`t a set back? No, the parties continued and the new shotguns were given, the travel expenses were all taken care of and the security of signing your name with a 37 thousand dollar pen was setting in....

Change, the more they say the word the more it stays the same.

Hey... activists any thoughts on a "change" in your methods of enacting your visions of a better union?

Instead of running to the convention all giddy about how the activists are going to change those IUAW bigshots ways and then getting there and the only thing that happens is... nothing.

Maybe our activist could push themselves away from the free booo fay`s or throw the free drink tickets away.....naaa never mind. Or... maybe the activists could start a protest outside Cobo and make a few calls to the media giving a heads up to the likes of Detroit Free Press, Detroit News etc.. Then move the protest (non violent) to the convention floor. Maybe, I don`t know? don`t take your seats when asked, all stand in the right or left (depending on political preference) rear corner of the convention floor? Abstain from voting, hold up a sign stating this delegation votes NO?

One thing for sure our activists are not getting pro membership results with their current methods of protest, during any of these conventions.

Maybe ..... our activists could..... start a food fight at one of the incumbent caucus`s free booo fays  or stage a sit down strike at one of the IUAW bar nite outings

But seriously there are many ways to gain attention to any cause. One thing for sure the bullshit our activists are doing... ain`t gettin nuttin done. :hat_tip:

I wonder if our activists ever though of the peaceful protest of "boycott"?

Can you imagine the news services coverage and the social media coverage if the delegates boycotted the convention by meeting out front of Cobo and not going in?

Do the activists ever think about not sending a delegation from a local?

Each local has to reach a pre set number of active/retired members to be present at a local membership meeting before any official business can be acted on. A quorum. What kind of message or what kind of reactions could be generated if the IUAW E-Board didn`t have an official quorum to enact official business?

One thing that there needs to be no imagination to see, that is once again there are no results again at this point after the conn conn from any of our activists. Except the crickets....

Oh, wait a minute.... boycotting would mean not getting something on the delegates part.... lost time or expense's or free food or free drinks naaaa activists would never give up anything for those tier 2 or LTS or TPT members.

Oh--- My--- G-d!!! Ford only (yep that "only" word being used again) made ONE POINT SEVEN B (as in B) illion before taxes and interest for the second quarter. Oh My G-d!!!!

Of course here at CAP there are two main reasons for "only" making that 1.7 billion paseo's.... first, we can not make enough of these boogers (gotta hit that magical number "1260") (minimum!!!) and second drum roll please....all that aaabbbsenteeee ismmmm!!!!!

Anyway WeBeee`s the main problem that caused Ford to be so strapped, so get ready to hear the Jimmy trainee say (another drum roll, please) "It`s the besttiss we could get" and my favorite "Yaa all should be thankful you even gotta J-O-B"

Fishman: Why widow in UAW/Fiat Chrysler scandal should avoid jail.....

"The attorney for the widow of a former union official implicated in the wide-ranging UAW/Fiat Chrysler training center scandal said his client should avoid jail time on a tax charge in the case in part because of her role in the community as well as the dismissal of other charges, including one alleging conspiracy."
"Attorney Steven Fishman wrote in a sentencing memorandum filed in U.S. District Court in Detroit last week that Monica Morgan, who could face as many as 27 months in prison when she is sentenced on July 13, "has dedicated her life to improving not just the lives of others but the metro Detroit community as a whole." He urged Judge Paul Borman to ignore the "drumbeat from the media wishing and hoping for a prison sentence."

Lets not forget how the defendant improved the Harrison Township community by making the community have another mortgage free home and how the defendant benefited the person filling out the widows taxes by reducing all that silly paperwork on her 2011 tax forms by forgetting about that extra $201,000.00 dollars and where it came from.... training center money?

Community Activist ---?--- Get Out Of Jail Free Card?

Just wondering, it could have only been going on at the UAW-Chrysler National Training Center....right?

Time Line of IUAW Legal Issues

In July 2017, federal prosecutors revealed that millions of dollars intended to train workers was instead spent by leadership of the UAW and FCA on air travel, solid-gold pens, a swimming pool, a house and a Ferrari, among other luxuries. Four indictments and four guilty pleas -- so far -- have exposed fraud within the massive U.S. auto manufacturing union and called into question the collective bargaining agreements ratified in 2011 and 2015 with FCA. Will this scandal spread? Here is a timeline and our list of key players.

Two guilty pleas

April 5-May 25, 2018
Two former officials with the UAW-Chrysler National Training Center plead guilty for their part in the in $4.5 million-plus corruption scandal. Michael Brown, formerly an FCA employee and co-director of the training center, pleads guilty to one count of lying to a federal grand jury. UAW official Keith Mickens pleads guilty to one count of conspiring to violate the Labor Relations Act.

Jewell aide charged

March 21, 2018
Nancy Johnson, a former top aide of ex-UAW Vice President Norwood Jewell, is charged with accepting tens of thousands of dollars in illegal payments from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Jewell headed the most recent round of talks with FCA and abruptly retired at the end of last year. He has been implicated in the scandal but not formally named or charged by investigators. Johnson faces five counts of criminal violations, including conspiring to violate the Labor Management Relations Act. She faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison, and a fine of up to $250,000.

Morgan pleads guilty

Feb. 6, 2018
Monica Morgan pleads guilty to one count of subscribing a false tax return. Sentencing was scheduled for June 4. Morgan faces a maximum of 27 months in prison but the government is arguing for a higher sentencing range. She also will be required to pay restitution of $190,747 to the U.S. Treasury Department for unpaid tax obligations from 2011-14, according to the plea deal.

Were negotiations tainted?

Jan. 26, 2018
A lawsuit, which seeks class action status on behalf of tens of thousands of UAW members, is filed by three union members who work at FCA. The plaintiffs allege their union cheated them out of "hundreds of millions of dollars" in union dues that were "wasted on tainted bargaining."

Scandal widens

Jan. 22, 2018
Details of the Alphons Iacobelli plea deal show federal officials saying company executives paid UAW officials in an attempt to influence union decisions and collective bargaining agreements, which were ratified in 2011 and 2015.

Iacobelli pleads guilty

Jan. 22, 2018
Alphons Iacobelli pleads guilty to conspiring to violate the Labor Management Relations Act and for subscribing a false tax return in U.S. District Court in Detroit. Sentencing was set for May 29, 2018. Iacobelli faces a statutory maximum of eight years in prison, and prosecutors say he will be required to repay $835,000.

King pleads guilty

Aug. 29, 2017
Virdell King pleades guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to violate the Labor Management Relations Act.

Virdell King charged

Aug. 18, 2017
Virdell King is charged in a 17-page document with using a credit card from a training center for Chrysler employees to buy more than $40,000 worth of clothing, jewelry, luggage and other personal items for herself and other senior UAW officials.

Durden pleads guilty

Aug. 8, 2017
Jerome Durden pleads guilty to one count of conspiracy to defraud the U.S. government, a felony, and one misdemeanor charge of failing to file a tax return for the approximately $4,000 he received in 2013 under the conspiracy.

Indictment released

July 26, 2017
Federal prosecutors release an indictment charging Alphons Iacobelli and Monica Morgan with criminal violations of the National Labor Relations Act. Separately, federal officials unseal Jerome Durden's case and announce the charges.

Charges filed

June 13, 2017
Federal prosecutors charge former FCA financial analyst Jerome Durden, who is accused of creating false tax returns to hide the payments to former UAW Vice President General Holiefield, Former Chrysler Group Vice President Employee Relations Al Iacobelli and other beneficiaries who were not identified, with conspiracy to defraud the United States and Failure to file tax return. The documents are sealed.

The President of the Teamsters was at the IUAW Con Con giving full support in his speech to the IUAW and the IUAW President excepted the support and said the Teamsters and IUAW will always fight for their members as one. Can`t wait for this type of support for the UAW membership....

"The Teamsters agreement “in principle” between the union and United Parcel Service (UPS) is the most significant attack on workers’ living standards at the giant package delivery company since the introduction of part-time employment and the two-tier wage and benefit system in the mid-1970s."
"The most resent proposal for a new tier of lower-paid “hybrid” or “combination” drivers would mean the beginning of the end of decent-paying delivery positions and the transformation of the entire UPS workforce into low-paid and essentially disposable laborers. The insulting wage increase for part-timers, which caps out at $15.50 by the end of the five-year contract, would leave hundreds of thousands of workers in poverty."
"The fact that the "Teamsters proposed" hybrid drivers once again demonstrates that the “union,” is far from uniting and defending the workers and is nothing but a tool of management."
"The Teamsters will not respond to rank-and-file opposition by negotiating a better contract, as the Teamsters for a Democratic Union (TDU) claims. Instead the IBT executives will try to wear down workers through contract extensions and, if necessary, impose the new contract unilaterally, as occurred in 2014.
At USPS, where the contract for 200,000 members of the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) expires on September 20, the union has already agreed in previous contracts to the establishment of “postal support employees,” a second tier of lower-paid, temporary workers who routinely work six-day weeks and forced overtime."
Sounds very interesting and so similar in methods. Maybe the Teamsters and IUAW royalty went to the same corporate training session? Maybe the Teamsters got 37 thousand dollar gold pens too?
Proposing another tier? lower rate? less benefits? get ready sheepies once you get past the high lights it wont be to painful....

Holiefield widow gets 18 months in auto industry corruption scandal

Detroit: Widow of United Auto Workers Vice President General Holiefield was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison Friday for a tax crime intertwined in a widening federal investigation of the auto industry and labor movement.

Monica Morgan-Holiefield, 55, of Harrison Township, is the first person sentenced in a scandal that has led to criminal charges against seven people and reshaped the top ranks of the auto industry as FBI agents investigate all three Detroit automakers.

Wearing a funeral black dress, she stared straight ahead as U.S. District Judge Paul Borman issued the sentence that capped the downfall of an accomplished photographer who prosecutors say succumbed to greed, living a high-flying lifestyle with money flowing from a conspiracy involving Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV and the UAW.
"This was not some slip-up," Assistant U.S. Attorney David Gardey told the judge. "It was a cold and calculated effort to get money for herself and her husband ... to satisfy simple greed."

Morgan`s Attorney, Mr. Fishman told the judge that "Ms. Morgan has been dragged through the public mud," and that it would continue even after the day of sentencing. He said that the "good news" is that the alleged attempt to damage her image had not worked with the people who know her.

The public, however, thinks Morgan is "a thief like her late husband," Fishman said. Fishman also noted that the judge would soon be dealing with the former UAW and FCA officials who had been involved in payoffs.

The UAW issued a statement after the sentencing:

"The misconduct of certain individuals in this case has been disturbing. Importantly, however, the wrongdoing did not involve union funds or affect our collective bargaining agreements. The UAW has taken strong measures to prevent a reoccurrence of this type of misconduct and our new leadership team continues to oversee improvements in our operations and financial controls."

Part #1

"Todays conviction of yet another senior UAW official further exposes the dishonorable scheme between UAW officials and Fiat Chrysler executives to corrupt the collective bargaining process at the expense of rank and file union members, Schneider said. The conviction reveals that part of this scheme involved the wrongful use of UAW funds for extravagant meals, entertainment, golf, and travel for little, if any, union-business purpose. Johnson's guilty plea indicated that a high-level UAW official directed other UAW officials to use money from automobile manufacturing companies through joint UAW training centers to pay for travel, lavish meals and other entertainment costs, officials said."

Part #2

"Nancy Johnson held a high-level position in the UAW and was entrusted to negotiate and implement contracts for the UAW union members she served. Instead, Johnson defrauded the membership by illegally obtaining items worth thousands of dollars, including jewelry, clothing, and other personal items, knowing that FCA was paying the bill. We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to investigate corrupt union officials who violate their duty to the members they represent for personal gain, said James Vanderberg, special agent in charge of the Chicago Region for the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Inspector General".

Part #3

"Johnson's plea also indicated that from 2014 to 2016, 100 % of the salaries for a large number of UAW officials and employees were paid for by FCA through the National Training Center. Johnson said the salaries were paid even though senior UAW officials and FCA executives knew the employees assigned to the NTC spent most of their work time performing tasks for the UAW, reported to the UAW and enforced FCA's compliance on behalf of the union and not for the benefit of FCA or the NTC. The salaries were paid by a directive that was issued to reduce costs to the UAW budget from such expenditures because the UAW budget was under pressure."

But wait, didn`t the president take credit for reducing the budget at the last Con Con?

"Johnson is the seventh person to plead guilty in connection with the ongoing criminal investigation into illegal payoffs involving UAW officials and FCA executives."

The barn door is wide open, the Fed`s have found some real stinky shit in the UAW/Chrysler stall. Wonder if there might be some of the same stuff in the UAW/Ford or UAW/GM stall..?

Dam IPhone broke this post up into 4 parts.... :hat_tip:
