Lorisford
I recently purchased a 2017 Focus Se sedan with the 1.0 ecoboost. It came with rear disc brakes and dual zone ventilation system. It's not included in the factory sticker and not sure it's even offered as stand alone option. I'm not complaining and actually pleasantly surprised about it but my question is how did this happen and is my car a unicorn?
akirby
The disc brakes are part of the Ecoboost appearance package. But not the dual zone electronic climate control. Are you saying that’s what you have on a SE? Did you buy it new? If it’s used it could be a Canadian car and they may have different option packages. Lorisford
This is a base SE no option or packages and not SEL, 1.0 ecoboost with 6 speed manual MSRP $19050. Obviously there was a mistake but looking for an explanation like maybe in the middle of model year switch to the 2018 models because mine was built October 2017. I have looked at the Monroney sticker that came with my car, I have looked at photos and specs of other SE on several dealer lots, I have looked at the Ford website, and can't find any mention of SE with these two features. Maybe I should just keep quiet and not look a gift horse in the mouth before Ford takes it back? Lol
MKII
You got a unicorn for sure. It's not a Canadian spec as they do not allow dual climate control on the SE. And the USA SE does not allow rear disc with the 1.0EB and 6 speed manual.

Any focus that isnt an ST or RS is a bare bones model so you do indeed have a unicorn.
630land
They may be using up brake parts since it's the final year for Mk3? However, checked a local dealer online inventory, and on a 1.0 car's window sticker it has AC climate control standard. Maybe a running change. Lorisford
Final year for Mk3???? Are you saying the 2018's are on a different platform and Mk4? I've looked at the 2018s and they're identical to my 2017.

I've looked at the 2018s and they're identical to my 2017. 2018 is the last year for the current Focus. We stop building them May 3rd. The new model is supposed to be a 2020 model for our market and will be imported from China except for the very high end/performance models, which will com from Germany. akirby
Not true. The current Focus will be imported from China and Europe starting later this year or early next year.
2b2
^ I thought the MK4 C519 Focus which will be shown in Geneva (March 3-18), will go into production soon there after & be on sale in Europe before the end of the year; while the China factory is not yet completed & will begin with the new MK4 C519 Focus correction gladly accepted
akirby
I thought there was a 8-12 month gap between Focus ending at MAP and getting imports. But I’m not 100% sure.

630land
Really? The current Focus is in its final model year, period. Was all over news. One source is Reuters showing como'd 2020 models and they say they are coming from China. Why would they wait a year and import the old style Mk3 model from China? When equipped with the 3-cylinder engine, Focus SE includes 4-wheel disc brakes and dual zone automatic climate control standard. Ford did this for 2017 and 2018 model years. These items are a nice bonus. You are correct that Ford doesn't mention them on either the window sticker or the order guide. There's a Ford dealer within walking distance of the hotel I'm staying at in the Washington D.C. area for work. I stopped by to say hello to one of my buddies who is a mechanic there. This dealer has several 3-cylinder Focus SE on their lot. I confirmed all of them had 4-wheel disc brakes and dual zone automatic climate control. Also confirmed that 4-cylinder Focus SE deletes these two features. 3-cylinder 2018 Focus SE, no packages. 4-cylinder 2017 Focus SE, no packages. 2018 is the same.
