fuzzymoomoo
How could there been a new model? No prototypes, no announcements. What platform? 2020 redesign was announced as cancelled. Easy, they dont change a damn thing. If anything, strip features and increase the price.
630land
They don't need 50 million option combinations of 4 door cars anymore. Purple with red interior, power windows, but manual locks and steering, but power brakes. That was the go-go 60's, when Big 3 had cash to burn. 630land
And "so much" for any next generation Fusion "sedans". Maybe an active model CUV? It's like when the MN12 or Panther was dropped.
ice-capades
I had a meeting with our Ford Zone Manager on Wednesday to do the "wholesale" allocation for June, July and August production (varies by model) and not surprisingly the subject of Ford's recent announcement was discussed. Ford's telling their dealer taht the Fusion will be available for at least 3-4 years. Great. It was announced months ago that Ford had cancelled development of the next generation Fusion and informed suppliers of it. The damage was done with the initial announcement and now Ford's trying to walk it back since they haven't said anything about the final Fusion production timetable. If so, it mean that the Fusion will likely go 10 years without a redesign which is a lot like what they did years ago with the Taurus. Unfortunately, it seems like the Fusion will follow in the Taurus' footsteps and become irrelevant in the marketplace. Further, it seems that Dearborn never learns from its past mistakes and just keeps repeating them. Further adventures to follow from Ford's CEO who's claim to fame is reinventing the office furniture environment while at Steelcase!

Rickoval
Was wondering if I can get any insight here on my situation. Ordered a 2018 Fusion Energi 2 weeks ago. Currently, being told that it's possible that it won't be made due to "production schedules, allocation and available commodities", and that we might have to get a 2019. I have no problem getting a 2019 instead, but have no idea what the pricing would be (A-Plan), nor the incentives (2018 has $10,250 rebates for leasing). I know that the 2019 will have a $4,600 tax credit instead of $4,007 (which on leasing goes to Ford but incentives should reflect increase). Also, if we're one of the first in line for a 2019, it should get made mid-August and delivered around Labor Day, correct? Any insight much appreciated. I like the idea of getting a newer model year for depreciation, and the larger battery pack, but don't want to have significantly different pricing. Final 2018 Fusion scheduling will be done next Thursday, May 31st. Your Dealer already knows what remaining allocation they have available for 2018 Fusion Energi scheduling. Ford always tries to schedule retail orders so it's still possible it will get scheduled, even if your Dealer doesn't have 2018 Fusion Energi allocation remaining. Considering how close it is to "Balance Out" for 2018MY Fusion scheduling, your Dealer should have given your retail order number and body code to their Ford Zone Manager, if they haven't already done so, so that the Regional Scheduler could reprioritize your order at priority code "01" to try to force the ordering system to schedule your vehicle. It's to late to get this done for tomorrow's scheduling but it's still possible for next week unless there's an Energi commodity issue. I just checked this afternoon's "Scheduling Toolbox" for tomorrow's scheduling and it states that the plant is full for this week's scheduling and that allocation will roll over to next week. As such, next week's 2018 Fusion scheduling will cover this week's allocation and next week's. I'd suggest contacting your Dealer and asking if they've contacted Ford about reprioritizing your order to "01", etc. Edited May 23, 2018 by ice-capades
