Acceleration - CT6 vs. Continental

Recommended Posts

I don't think it is online yet but the February issue of Car & Driver has a road test of the Continental. It is more positive that the "first drive" report that was done earlier but it still had a lot of "this is not our kind of car" in the reporting. However, what I found interesting was the acceleration results versus the 404 HP Cadillac CT6 that they tested earlier. In spite of the Continental being heavier, in the most important measurements, it was a more than competitive. The 5-60 is very telling. The Nano has VERY little turbo lag. The Caddy was terrible in comparison. C & D reported 17 MPG observed for both vehicles.

The 30-50 is the sweet spot of 2nd gear for the Conti and would take it through those speeds with no shift. The Caddy may have had a shift in that range. Gear changes often hurt acceleration times. The 50-70 times are really close and both would use 3rd gear but the Caddy 3rd is 2.08 vs 1.84 in the Lincoln so it would have had a slight gearing advantage.

If you add the times together for a 30-70 acceleration, the Lincoln is faster.
