markfnc
i have always used 87 octane regular a new Sheetz station opened near me. it offers 88 octane e15 (for 2001 & newer vehicles only" it also offers e85 flex fuel minimum 51% ethanol. Can i use either of these in my Taurus, and how much lower on avg. will gas mileage be? The flex fuel was about 20% less than regular, and i think i heard flex fuel gets 15% less mileage, so it would still be cheaper. Opinions/experience with either? 92merc
If you don't have the yellow cap on your filler, you won't be able to do E85. I'm fairly certain the Taurus wasn't one of them that could. Not sure on the other question.
markfnc
It does have the yellow cap. says e85, and flex fuel under the sel thng on the trunk.
akirby
Then you can use E-10, E-15 or E-85 or anything in between. You'll see at least a 25% drop in mpg for E-85. I wouldn't use it.
