2010 Rust though

If you park your car in a garage in Winter, especially in road salt climates, it tends to accelerate rusting. I had a 1996 Taurus that had no rust on it, but 3 years later the entire under carriage was rotting because it sat in the garage and stayed wet in the winter.

My sister's 2007 Focus has allot of rust in areas you can't see, primarily inside the doors, they haven't rusted through yet. She put 160,000 miles on it so I think the rusting is within expected norms. I don't think the rocker panels rusted through even though she drove one side onto a boulder and bashed it in. Her hood is rusting at the corner by the headlight but she also had body work done in that area. The car will be gone soon but it's the first time I've personally got to track a car from new to death.

That body style is prone to rockers rotting from the inside out. My dads 2010 started showing bubbles this spring and the body shop says he sees them every few weeks and feels the texturized paint on the rockers has a foam layer under it that is holding in moisture and rotting the inside.
