It is not the sheep shit rumors that flow so easily from our union rep`s but, it is better to know than not to know the facts.

Hang in there Glow we will make it.

Decker, this is a wake up and smell the coffee call. And this is also one of the reasons why the IUAW should be adhearing to our demands.

Decker, this is a wake up and smell the coffee call. And this is also one of the reasons why the IUAW should be adhearing to our demands.

IUAW puts their own gain in front of the membership first and foremost. If you need any proof of my statement just ask if the leadership of the IUAW have VEBA as their health insurance a pond retirement? Dose the leadership of the IUAW have the same retirement and/or pension plan as the membership? Has the leadership of the IUAW had a raise in the salaries in the past ten years? Etc....

Now on the local level their isn`t anything higher than personal political gain for most of the local leadership? Personal Political gain is so high in the local leadership`s mines because that is their control. Control, you say? Yes, who gets the bank hours. Who gets the appointed positions.Who gets the O/T. Then there is the lets make a deal game with the plant management. Etc...

Then at those local hall`s, the personal political gain, is there also? Control through personal political gain? yes again. Ever wonder why the local leadership wants to hold on to their positions so bad that come election time they start the name calling, lying, rumor starting and become expert bullshit artists? Sitting the fence is an art also... Well? Personal Political gain is control....

If the sheep would ever think for themselves they might realize what it`s like to control a so called small business like a local hall.Control? small business you say?

Local leadership controls such things as paid vacations, (who wants to go to Black Lake?) issuing of contracts, (how many times dose a roof or fence need to be repaired?) How much office supplies do we need? Snow Plowing, grass cutting? Who`s up for some union business? Etc.....

Let me put it in prospective for the average member of the 551 local.

2014 LM-2 reports that the money received by our little local was $2.832.000.00. Yeah I know Two Million Eight Hundred Thirty Two Thousand Dollars.

2014 LM-2 reports that the money spent by those Personal Political Gain/Control Leaders $2,802.000.00. Yep.. Two Million Eight Hundred Two Thousand Dollars.

Yes sir reeeeee we have $30,000.00 left over after a $2,832,000.00 payday. See any control yet?

I`m sure a printer is just saying thank you when the $30 plus thousand dollar check shows up..... News letters aint cheap? Family picnic was well worth $82 thousand dollars... wonder who backed her suv up to the leftover food this year?

How dose the leadership get this control?

A deep thankfulness for those that came before us, that fought so hard, truthfulness, accountability, and an equal concern for the membership? Ummm nope it`s more or less Personal Political Gain through sending of $2,802.000.00 of the memberships money..... That`s the bottom line. Ask any five members how much was taken in at the 551 last year and 4.5 members would have to guess. That is about the same numbers for the question of how much did the 551 spend on PPGain/Control....

Now you do realize the local level leadership is just a mirror image of... yep you guessed it the (drum roll please) IUAW. The only difference are the zero`s in the total amounts and the IUAW have more tuff guys (regional servicing rep`s) to run interference for IUAW Personal Political Gain/Control freaks....

Glow, making common sense again, IUAW adhering to our demands.... the membership isn`t even in the demand picture. The membership is the indentured income generating sheep for the great IUAW leadership.

2.8M? omg.

Yep... two million eight hundred and two thousand dollars....

Some of the reported expenses aren`t even in the by-laws...? Our resident conservative activist is unusually quite about all the spending? Personal Political Gain the driving force in the activists silence...?

There are elected individuals that make more lost time then some tier 2 members earn in a complete year of working the line... Personal Political Gain?

The UAW does not 'have to' negotiate anything, including health care, for retirees.By the way do retirees pay union dues?Do retirees vote on the contract?Once you retire walk fast and dont let that door knob hit you in the ass. Now,it aint all bad, especially if you can get out early under 30 and out.Take the full pension until you are 62 and go get another job "Find everything you were looking for today, sir"?

If you get another job while drawing social security and you are not what social security calls the full retirement age (based on what year you were born) you can only make $15,720 a year, after that they deduct $1 for every $2 that you earn.

True that. There is no 'one size fits all' solution.

Wow! I can see why so many people, including you Decker, are still working. I think I'll never retire either. All those idiots that keep saying retire already...do not pay our bills. I cannot survive on early social security, have to wait till I'm at least 67. and the wife maybe 65% survivor benefits?

At least you are realizing before you sign the paperwork. So many came to the hall complaining how "no one" told me or us just how much would be taken out for survivor benefit or how much the VEBA co payments are. Then there are those that never realized that 62 years and 7 months (for those in my age group) is considered "early" retirement by the SS administration. Take it at 62plus years old and take a hit for about 20plus percent each month of your SS benefit. Then there is the little known or talked about by either Ford or the IUAW kick in the ass. Hire in at age 20 do your 30 years and retire right? Well yes you can do just that and surprise you get a bridge benefit that is about what SS will be in addition to your monthly pension. As an average you`ll see a gross check of around 3200 a month. But on you 62nd and a few months birthday Ford says no more bridge benefit for you. So your 3200 monthly check is wacked with a big axe and at that point like so many I had the pleasure of being on the receiving end of "what the hell happened" or "If I sign up for SS it will be less than the bridge benefit because SS pays less each month because its an early retirement" or "why does Ford stop the bridge benefit at 62? I don`t want to sign up for SS!!!!"

Now you have to deduct lets see state, federal and any county taxes. Then survivor benefit is an auto deduct also. Then there is the non auto deduct benefits you get to pay for like VEBA co-payments. Do you see what`s happening to that 3200 monthly check..... oh there is that one auto deduction that reduces both the monthly pension check and your SS benefit check at the same time its called the reduction of that bridge benefit and the suggestion by the union to just sign up for SS benefit that will reduce that benefit by about 20%. So don`t do the math cause it will not equal out in your favor.

Now if it works for you that is great, I can`t be happier for friends that have found happiness after Ford and I feel good when they say all they had to do was change their life styles. But for me I could do as I want in the life after Ford and be happy but, I thank G-d for all those that fought for my freedom of choice. I like my life style, I got that piece of paper from that little school in West Lafayette (took way longer than 4 years), I do what I want when I want, spoil kids (still), I like keeping Mom and Uncle Willard happy on this part of their journey and I really like being able to give as much as I want, whenever I want.

I`ll let the cat out of the bag, I`ll be 62 and 7 months 3 months after my 42nd year here in paradise. Here is the one great thing I have learned over the years... I learned how to balance...a good life and being employed. Balance those two things and that make for a good life.

The one thing that folks don't take into account when planning for retirement is the word "INFLATION". I'm 64 and got my 30 in at 61. Some people gave me the old lecture of "if you can't make it now on retirement you'll never make it", when I would tell them that I am not retiring. So I come up with a good come back. Currently the average life expectancy is 78.7 yrs or let's just say 80. So I look at folks and ask them if they could live today on what they made 20 years ago. That usually stuns them for some reason. I can live for several years on an early retirement but if I live 20-30 years past retirement it could be rough and I don't want to be a burden to my children.

If you hire in young and take 30 and out then you could retire at say around 55. If you live 5 years past average life expectancy that will make you 85 and living on a thirty year old outdated income. Can you live today on what you made 30 yrs ago?

Furthermore, When you get close to retirement age you are usually on a good job. I sat down and did the math on the last contract. By staying four more years my social security increases immensely each year I work after 62 plus my Ford retirement I will draw $800 more a month versus retiring at 62. BTW, my Ford retirement only increases by roughly $50 a month for each year I stay but my social security increases by $150 month plus inflation raises, something Ford doesn't give. Piss poor retirement plus we haven't had an increase in the "Life Income Benefit" for retirement in about 15 or so years. These guys are too busy working on training centers and sitting as consultants on various boards to worry about our finances.

I used to listen to these younger employees always say, when I get my 30 yrs. I out of here. I checked with some of them since they got their 30 and quess what, they are still working. Younger people just want the older ones out so their seniority and job security goes up. Listen people, work as long as you want.

I am thankful that we have a pension plan, but it can and should be better. Do away with the supplement Ford offers until you reach age 62, and replace it with $75 per year (75 x 30 = $2250) you work. This gives you a livable retirement and also make you really think about leaving with 30 years at a young age.

Now let talk about the VEBA system for retires health ins. If you retire before 65, you have a $750 deductible before ins. pays a dime. You get 6 primary care visits at a $25 co pay per visit per year. Anymore visits you pay. If you go to a specialist, you pay is what the negotiated price between the ins. co. and Dr. That is over $100 per visit. When you get older unfortunately you need to see Cardiologist, Urologist, Dermatologists etc. My friend told me he had a crown put on at a cost of $125 while working. A year later, and now retired, he had to pay $450 for the same crown. I really feel the Union sold the retirees out with VEBA. My quess is they (union officials) have a better plan than this.

Now for Social Security. Do not plan on this because our politicians have robbed this over the years. There will not be enough money to run this program in less than 15 yrs.

The main thing is to have a plan when and if you retire. Hope for the best and plan for the worst.

Ask the person that you know working the door at walmart, or running parts for a dealership if they wished they had the job back that their good seniority earned them with all the vacations and benifits that went with it or making less money like they are now. If you are going to retire, retire. Otherwise hold onto your good job until YOU are ready

It's so easy to say I'll retire early. But that's a huge mistake for most people. I was ready for the next contract and the retirement bonus, but the end of the bridge at 62 is holding me way back. It's simply retarded to retire early if you're young and then at age 62 your Pension is cut in half and you are forced to collect social security early which results in a huge loss from full retirement age of 67. Ford's Pension system is a Joke! I'm going to continue working at Ford till I get a better job Like Incoming Quality and live and enjoy everyday that I'm at work and enjoy every day I'm on vacation. Thanks again Decker for opening eyes to this Pension Scam!

Grab those one, two or three day vacations too. Over night in the greatest city in the world walking the river walk or driving two hours to a bed and breakfast can make the for a great way to enjoy life while your employed. Then there's the 4 to 6 hours of just getting lost on those old two lane roads by throwing your leg over that 34 year old Harley. Ahhh life... you have to work to make it good ;)

I personally think everybody in that article is crooked, but nobodies personal net worth is mentioned in that article. It mentions amounts held by nonprofit "charities" and training centers.

Now, prove that they hid assets and bribes in that charity, and you have another story.

I'll take my pension buyout now Thanks. There's no way the traditional pension benefit will be around for us legacy workers. Every major company has eventually offered a buyout of pension benefits to reduce their financial liability. I'd rather take the cash and invest it in something else, just my opinion...

$230.00??? for 100% survivor benefits???

Hmmm Cecil could you post where that $230 is wrote in the agreement?

pmooret, I`m not sure about any other companies but if you`re an UAW member you`ll see the reductions if you want the survivor benefit. Now most State and Fed employee`s don`t pay for an option (25%, 50% or 100% benefit) the reduction is set at the passing too, in most cases 50% of the monthly benefit of the employee`s current benefit, but social security will go to the higher level (if there is a higher level) of the couples benefits. For example, Husband = $100, Wife = $70 the husband passes the wife will see her benefit go to $100 not in addition too her $70. So do the math, those State and Fed employee`s could will see 50% decrease in pension plan benefits and get one check from S.S. instead of the two. While UAW member couples that don`t or can`t pay for a survivor benefit will see no pension benefit paid and only one S.S. check a month at the passing of the represented spouse or same sex partner or common law spouse.

Ohh.... the devil is sure as hell in the details
