Anthony
Silly question, but what the heck. I have no clue what vehicles are included in this recall as of yet, but my wife has a 2011 Chrysler T&C. She was in a head-on collision a few years back that set off the airbags. If the vehicle originally had the faulty airbags, would they have replaced them with corrected ones at that point? It was in September of 2013. I'm just wondering if we end up getting a recall notice if would be required to get it fixed. Edited May 20, 2015 by Intrepidatious
transitman
I've been trying to figure out if Ford uses this supplier for airbags, does anyone know. All the recalls so far have mostly been for Japanese vehicles. Edited May 20, 2015 by transitman

akirby
Some but not as much as some of the other mfrs IIRC.
Ron W.
My 2005 Mustang GT was recalled last year. I ran the vin of my 06 Mustang GT on Ford.com and it still shows an open recall for air bags.
fuzzymoomoo
ford did use them from like 2004-2006 The recalls are limited to pretty much the Mustang, Ranger and GT.
jcthorne
One of the unfortunate realities of this recall is that the fix is only temporary, basicly resetting the clock. The new airbags are of the same design as the originals. NHTSA now admits that many will have to be recalled again once (if) a real solution is found. Also at this point, its likely that Takata will fail and leave the burden to the auto companies. NHTSA also admits that the option to have the cars bought back essentially does not exist due to the numbers. Could you imagine Ford trying to buy back GTs? transitman
I know there was an airbag restraints control module recall for some 2013 and early 2014 C-Max's but that's not related to this. Sounds like I'm OK if Ford stopped using the Takata (or as I like to call them, Asian airbag manufacturer Tricia Takanawa) airbags in 2006. Too bad for a lot of folks, this is going to be a real PITA. Edited May 20, 2015 by transitman

silvrsvt
Hmm slightly glad my air bags didn't go off in 2007 when I rear ended an expedition with my 2006 Mustang...but then again I did run the VIN on it and wasn't affected by this? I need to check again.
