ChrisFra
Any new news on whether Lincoln plans to offer a plug-in hybrid version of the MKZ? I currently have a Fusion Titanium Energi, but am interested in something with a bit higher-end interior.
92merc
If I had to guess, it probably won't happen until Ford starts producing the "purposely built" new line of Fords for the hybrid/plug in market. No more adapting existing cars to make them work.
fou_bleu
What's to adapt for the MKZ? Does it not share enough components with the Fusion/Mondeo to be a reasonably simple addition to the line-up?
transitman
MKC maybe, but MKZ, too heavy to be efficient. Like 92merc said, until there's purposely built vehicles, don't count on it. If Ford moves forward with PHEV technology, smaller batteries with larger capacity, you'll maybe see CD3 CD4 vehicles if the use of aluminum and carbon fiber is incorporated. A more advanced battery that has a 50-60 mile PHEV range in a C1, will be lucky to have half of that in a CD3. sullynd
You will not see another CD3 vehicle from Ford. They haven't made a CD3 sedan in years. The CD4 Fusion has had a PHEV for several years, if I had to guess an MkZ Energi would require an unmarketable MSRP.
transitman
I was thinking MKX, and you're probably right, even an MKZ with the appropriate (and unique) trim level to make it attractive would be in the 45K plus range. From my perspective, if you can pay 45-50K for a car, you can afford the gas.
