Sure, the economy is fine. We're in a recovery, right?

Recommended Posts

Yeah Ima I've been retired over 10 years now....you can't tell langston anything ...he made a big fool of himself when he went on and on about you working in Indy and how you were thought of there......half of what he says is superfuluous BS... and his posting about you proves it...

Well Mr Napfirst, I can prove I never worked in Indy, although I am not sure how. In the world according to LH, I must have done something terrible there to be remembered. I don't know if I should take credit for such a thing even if I was nowhere near, or laugh at the secret squirrel as he thinks he has me pegged in some facility he believed I worked at.

To be honest LH is a very big ASSet to this board. Why? Because we all know he is highly intelligent, (at least I think he is) and yet his intelligence doesn't stop him from getting it bassackwards. He is like the Hollyweird elite, who are holier than thou because they look good. (even though we can't confirm or deny if LH looks good as of yet) If someone looks good, we are supposed to believe them as they fly around in private planes, even as they tell us the whole problem is global warming. Don't do as I do, do as I say. The rhetorical refrain of true socialists. I suppose they are above us.

LH is probably really a good guy, and I seriously think that. He is just a weak minded person who has been convinced by these shang-ri-la people, and actually believes it can be achieved. Feel sorry for him, and have pity upon him. Sooner or later, the light bulb will go on. It may take until he is 35, or maybe 40, but go on it will. At that time, he will become a vociferous advocate of conservatism, of this, I have no doubt. Why? Because he is far from stupid, he is just misguided; which is really ok.

He is one of the last of progressives (along with Spaniard) to defend there ideas on here, the rest have run away as they have seen failure, and do not want to be tied to it. Failure will eventually make them advocates of reality. They continue to spin the failures faster than Beannie and Cecil hats, but can't escape truth. Makes no difference, the light will come on.......hopefully sooner than later.

We should take no satisfaction in being correct. Our method is certainly not a method that promotes love, kindness, and understanding. Being right makes us nothing more than being correct, not loving. Hey they will fight a while longer, but rest assured they will capitulate, unless they want to lie through their pearly white teeth.........which I doubt, since they are both wanting to be on the correct side of things.

Carry on Napfirst, and you also enjoy your day. Free thinking without intrusion from the workplace does have its rewards; namely being ahead of the curve of those who will follow behind us.

A "Liberal Paradise" would be a place where everybody has guaranteed employment,
free comprehensive healthcare, free education, free food, free housing, free clothing,
free utilities, and only Law Enforcement has guns.
And believe it or not, such a place does indeed exist . . .. . .it's called prison.

Here is an interesting take on it that I think has merit.

To really understand what’s going on with the American economy, don’t look at the headlines. Don’t look at the unemployment rate or the trade balance or the deficit. Don’t even look at what’s happening today at all: Look at what happened 46 years ago.

Free clothing? No, not really. Nice try though.

So the economy has a natural cycle to it that is outside of any single political view and there's nothing we can do about it? So your going to stop attacking Obama now because the long decline started before his presidency? I mean, according to this 2007 was the beginning of a decline that is outside of economic policies.

Hey xr7,

Free clothes was too far. Evidently, everything else seems to have been acceptable as "Liberal Paradise".

Just asking, because you do know it is going into the golden age of democrats known as the "Clinton era." Yeah, sounds good to me. They can whine all they want about removing Obysmal policies, but GW was the worst ever; just ask them. So removing anything he did is a slam dunk with all of us, right!

So yeah, lets return to Clinton type policies and start from there; a reset as it were.

The problem is we don't have a Newt Gingrich to keep the congress focused and limiting Clinton's excesses.

LH supports the 1% and don't even know it.

Every Ferrari dealership in the country should have a framed picture of Ben Bernanke in their lobby. It should read: "Our #1 Salesman."

The largesse of the Federal Reserve over the past five years has amounted to one of the largest ever subsidies to the American wealthy—fueling record fortunes, record numbers of new millionaires and billionaires, and an unprecedented shopping spree for everything from Ferraris to Francis Bacon paintings. The prices of the assets owned by the wealthy, and the things they buy, have gone parabolic, bearing little relationship to the weak, broader economy.

The White House wants us to think the legislation was a success, publishing a report that claims the stimulus “saved or created about 6 million job-years” and “raised the level of GDP by between 2 and 3 percent from late 2009 through mid-2011.”

These seem to be preposterous claims. According to data from the Minneapolis Federal Reserve’s interactive website, the current recovery (red line) is the weakest expansion since World War II. And keep in mind that this anemic recovery started in the summer of 2009, right about the same time as the stimulus was beginning. So if the President’s plan was effective, it should be apparent in the growth numbers.

Because we wouldn't be paying 5 million per day in interest ?

Because we wouldn't have such a high number of unemployed ?

Because the Fed wouldn't need to keep printing more money ?

Because .........................................................................

Again, I think the author is being a little how you say deceptive. I went to the interactive chart you included and there are some points that should be addressed.

1. The interactive chart shows that job growth was higher than 2001 which is surprising given that this is the slowest recovery

2. The recessions and recoveries are not alike and it's pretty useless to compare them. The banking and debt leveraging issues are unique to this recession along with the fed rate, which was uncommonly low. Growth is going to be extremely slow when banks are not lending money and consumers are paying down debt more than consuming.

latest_numbers_LNS11300000_1948_2014_allFrom the BLS Labor Participation Rate data.

Looks like Bush and his predecessors back to 1978, which includes Jimmy Carter, did a better job than our current administration. And the trend is showing no signs of recovering.

"Mission Accomplished"? We're back to where we were in Carter's days. And even he was unable to impede the participation growth. It only took Obama 5 1/2 years to undo a 29 year stretch.

Currently, American corporations are just sitting on vast amounts of money. So far, they refuse to invest in the US economy, and some, like Burger King, are considering a move to avoid paying US taxes. So much for supporting the country that made them great, but that's the way the Koch Brothers want it, so it must be good.

And of course, it's all Obama's fault, it's gotta be. :)

Businesses cater to its customers that generate its earnings.

If a business is sitting on investment cash then exactly what changed or why are they sitting on it ? Could it be the uncertainty of costs added to business, Obamacare, energy prices , regulations & higher taxes ?

Where did all of the above originate from .......the current administration that has been making the rules / sending signal to business for the last 6 years.

The Koch brothers and everyone else in a viable business are not the ones responsible for the debt and unemployment / underemployment the nation is enduring.

The government continues to make bad rules and regulation and still continues to spend more than it takes in or prints.

No business can survive with this formula and the nation is suffering from it on the backs of businesses and taxpayers.

Bush was bad but Obama IS far worse unless you are giving him a complete pass for the + half decade he has been in control.
