FiredMotorCompany
Sequestration? What sequestration. Oh, the one that cancelled White House tours? Threatened massive government lay-offs? Draconian budget cuts? Some here will be glad to know that at least one government budget seems to be so adequately funded........well, we'll not assert there is a presidential dog walker, but it sure looks like there is a presidential dog "corporate jet" airline service. That includes a personal attendant. Who and what was on that flight that couldn't have flown coach like the taxpayers? Basketballs? Suits? A dog? What idiot couldn't have shipped it all on Air Force One? Is a 747 too small to carry the pooch and the presidential ego at the same time? Langston Hughes
Awww, the dog is soo cute...LOL. What are you whining about? Sequester could be gone but conservatives won't budge. The party of NO is the one to blame.
FiredMotorCompany
Sequester? What sequester. I haven't seen much about massive layoffs, massive economic calamity and doom. As I suspected, it was all a ploy to try to leverage a crisis for the purpose of political grandstanding and face-saving. Amazing. The country seems to be doing MUCH better than threatened. AND the national debt hasn't risen in almost 3 months. Kinda hard for the president to take credit for economic growth and increased employment when we are crushed under a sequester. But the dog flies for about $50,000 to Martha's Vinyard. And the school children STILL can't get a tour of the White House.
Langston Hughes
Well, growth is down since sequester become a reality this year. Hard for conservatives to say that austerity is increases our economy, as it's doing the same thing as it did in Japan and Europe, slowing growth. fuck children touring the White house. So how do you distinguish the Obama consistently slow growth from that you blame conservatives for? It isn't like we went from 4% growth to 0.13% because of the sequester. This chart actually proves the obverse. The economy is growing BECAUSE of the sequester. The rate of growth since sequester issues came to a head after the election has slowed. We won't make even what we did last year for growth. But too you that's a good thing because you can blame Obama for what republicans wanted, which is austerity.

What I see is declining growth until the sequestration, then a rebound since. I'm just using your logic about Bush's fault as you have asserted in defending Obama's failure to make significant improvement in the country's economic malaise and employment. Just how long are you going to ignore his ineptitude at managing the office he pursued? Stupid people believe he is blameless because "he didn't know how bad it was". No one that ever got elected to a new political office EVER knows how bad something is until they got there. Sure, he may not have known the extent of the problems, but he ran on the promise he was the guy to fix it. Which he hasn't.

Sure, he may not have known the extent of the problems, but he ran on the promise he was the guy to fix it. Which he hasn't. Well, fixing it depends on what you consider to be wrong with it and we both know that you and I don't agree on what is wrong, let alone with how to fix it. i believe that you are correct at some level, that those crying a second recession due to sequester were wrong in our case. even Obama was alarmist about that. Fortunately for him both sides were alarmist about it to some extent, the repubs on defense and the dems on social issues. and the fact that it still doesn't equate to the hysteria conservative talking heads created over inflation. Do you know when hyper-inflation is coming, because it's been a few years and it's not here yet. As for Obama's failure, I don't believe that there is one. This is basically our new economy. The growth we had before based on debt leveraging, both personal and business is gone for a while. I doubt it will come back ever to the same extent and if it does we are in for another bubble pop. You could add in Europe's economic instability as another limit on our growth. All in all, I figured this was what we would end up with. You could be right about the bubble. Part of the problem starts with the FED. That's a whole forum in itself!!! i believe that you are correct at some level, I think I need glasses. That can't be what I think I read. that those crying a second recession due to sequester were wrong in our case. even Obama was alarmist about that. Fortunately for him both sides were alarmist about it to some extent, the repubs on defense and the dems on social issues. and the fact that it still doesn't equate to the hysteria conservative talking heads created over inflation. There was hysteria from the liberal talking heads, as well. Do you know when hyper-inflation is coming, because it's been a few years and it's not here yet. Do you remember stubbing you toe 6 years ago? But if your toe turned black and blue and excruciating pain occurred from no-where, you may not associate the two events. Hyper-inflation is not instantaneous, and neither is a depression. It's possible the feds money printing has been absorbed by financial entities, as seen in the velocity of money, where otherwise the flooding of the currency into the economy would have been felt by now. As for Obama's failure, I don't believe that there is one. What a surprise. This is basically our new economy. This "new normal" is good enough for you? The growth we had before based on debt leveraging, both personal and business is gone for a while. I doubt it will come back ever to the same extent .... *Here's your "I think you're right" moment. and if it does we are in for another bubble pop. You could add in Europe's economic instability as another limit on our growth. So why are we migrating to a European model? All in all, I figured this was what we would end up with. Dang! I knew I shoulda called you for financial planning. You could be right about the bubble. Gee-ze. You keep agreeing with me and I might have to make an effort to reciprocate.(*See note above) Edited August 16, 2013 by FiredMotorCompany

Hyper-inflation is not instantaneous, and neither is a depression. It's possible the feds money printing has been absorbed by financial entities, as seen in the velocity of money, where otherwise the flooding of the currency into the economy would have been felt by now. There's plenty of theories why it was going to happen and now those people have new theories about how it didn't happen. What a surprise. I know you want me to agree with you that Obama's ruined the economy but he hasn't. The things i think he did wrong are not the things you think he did so even if i did, we wouldn't agree anyways. You disliked the government spending in the stimulus, I thought it was too little and included to many tax breaks that only killed revenue. So if you want to count the stimulus as a partial failure we are together but for different reasons. Understand that coming from different backgrounds and beliefs about government that what i am likely to find wrong with the president is when he moves to the right. Most of the time you won't see that as a failure, except for the ACA, which you were going to hate anyways based on political beliefs. This "new normal" is good enough for you? *Here's your "I think you're right" moment. So why are we migrating to a European model? Dang! I knew I shoulda called you for financial planning. I will take 2% growth without a bubble over what we just went through. I know that many people don't or won't agree with me but i didn't like the old normal of homes being investments instead of homes. Call me old fashioned but the idea of bouncing around every 3-5 years just to get a bigger, fancier, keep up with the Jones house was totally foreign to me. And the idea of using the equity to purchase other shit you didn't need and put your home into more debt was dumb as hell. I don't know how to pick stocks and funds so don't call me. I am fairly conservative in that regard. Gee-ze. You keep agreeing with me and I might have to make an effort to reciprocate.(*See note above) You could be right. It's kinda silly to argue what might be happening, when it would be wiser to sit back and judge later. You will probably be happy that the FED will likely cut back on it's easing based on the growth. Or maybe not.

FiredMotorCompany
Ouch! Wow! You got me there. I just didn't recall these people having been called "Adolph Hitler and Saddam Hussein". BTW, where'd you get the crappy photoshoped photo of Saddam here at the bottom? Rule of Photoshop#1 You have to make the shadows match. I am a photographer and I look at light much more closely than amateurs do. Most novices cannot visualize the difference between hard light and soft light. That's the tell here. BTW, hasn't other administration's representatives greeted foreign leaders with a hand shake? As opposed to bowing in submission? Swing and a miss.
