What are the must have accessories, where did you get them and what mods did you do?

Here is a trick/mode I did:

Want your Head Lights to come on before it is really dark?

I love the Ford Fusion's automatic headlights! On my Energi Titanium, they come on when it gets dark, they come one when it rains and my wipers come on (automatically). But like so many other cars I have had, they don't come on early enough for me, it has to be pretty dark. Dusk is the most dangerous time and I feel your lights should be on. I wish they would allow you to set the light sensitivity (Ford please take note) for the auto on. I have a solution that works for me. I took some regular clear tape and "tinted" it with a black permanent marker and then layered it (2 pieces worked) and covered the light sensor in the middle of the dash (reducing the amount of light getting it). This makes your headlights come on earlier or even on a really cloudy day.

Looking for a place to put your phone or Nav?

My phone has a cradle for it and I found a spot that allows for me to see it (and hear it) easily and still protects it from the sun. I mounted (suction mount) it on the small door window. I needed to use a coiled type of a power cord to allow the door to open. I ran the cord under and behind the dash paneling to an added power plug (3 plugs w 1 USB) under the middle console.

MFT Screen Protector from NuShield, Shark fin antenna from Visual Garage, tint, and likely going to buy the ProClip phone mount when I get a new phone in August. Likely get the WeatherTech floor mats before next winter as well.

I love the look of the door sills -- were they a pain to install?

Real Easy....I let the dealer do it :). I had a number of parts that I had the dealer install when I bought the car. They gave me a deal and we worked it so they would do it on the day I picked it up. It looked like it would be easy (instructions were included), but they is some wiring involved.

Looks great! I just remembered I ordered a custom fit windshield shade to keep temperature cooler inside. I've been ordering so many things that I forgot about the order!

Who and where? I have gotten cover crafts for my last couple cars but am curious if there is another option.

I am hoping to get Auto Hood Lift Struts to replace the manual little bar that currently hoods the hood up. The only two I have found do not yet have them made for the 2013, but both say they are working on it.

Anyone know anything about these or any others?

FYI: If you are looking for the 2013 Ford Fusion Ford Accessories, I found this site: http://www.thefordsource.com/store/car_accessories/fusion.htm

They have better prices then getting them through the dealership and seem to get here faster. I got the:

  • Fusion Wheel Locks - Chrome Plated for Exposed Lugs
  • Fusion Side Window Deflectors (but I think I may replace these with the "in Channel" ones)
  • Fusion Splash Guards - Molded, Front Pair, Black
  • Fusion Splash Guards - Molded, Rear Pair, Black
  • Fusion Bumper Protector - Rear (looks nice and good to have, but a lot to pay for a sticker)
  • Fusion Door Sill Plates - Illuminated, Stainless Steel, 2-Piece Kit, Charcoal (I love these!)

Not getting the wheels (un-sprung weight and all) then buying new low rolling resistance 18" tires... etc. Maybe in 40k miles when I have to get new tires...

But I did find this: www.royaloakfordparts.com has much better prices, replacing both Lombard Ford AND www.thefordsource.com in my list. Even though I'm getting a Fusion I love the subtle charge port decal from the CMax (DM5Z-5820000-AA).

Door Sill Plates - Illuminated, Stainless Steel, 2-Piece Kit, Charcoal $150.89

Wheels - 18 Inch x 7 Inch Sparkle Silver-Painted Aluminum $197.50

Bumper Protector - Rear $59.25

Charge Door Decal $35.55

Splash Guards - Molded, Rear Pair, Black $39.49

Splash Guards - Molded, Front Pair, Black $39.49

I got the custom cut sunshade made by heat shield from Amazon. It is a pure pain to roll up (put away) but totally worth it. It is thick and keeps the car amazingly cool. Add that to my tinted windows and the car interior is well protected from sun and heat. It was not cheap compared to the $10 ones from target but it is worth the price.

Tell us more, which one did you get?

I'm glad to see you got that one!

I love the Ford on yours. Ford does not have Organization tags in MD, plus lay look lame, not like Texas, they do tags right there. I was going to put "The Ultimate Thank You Basket", but the MVA wouldn't allow that and most of the ones I wanted were taken. So I think this one is a good way for me to pay tribute to Ford.

I got these thinking winter, but I really like the look of the WeatherTech FloorLiner™ DigitalFit (http://www.weathertech.com/ford/2013/fusion/floorliner-digitalfit/) and plan to keep them in year around. I feel they are worth the cost. They look great and fit great.
