mkoesel
At least four new Ford products will be developed from the existing platform underpinning the Five Hundred sedan, company execs said on Tuesday. Automotive News reports that Dave Szczupak, the company's American manufacturing leader, says that the four new products will include two sedans and two vehicles in "future unique segments." The Five Hundred itself is derived from the Volvo platform that originated with the XC90 sport-utility vehicle. The sedan yet to come from the platform is known to be the Lincoln MKS, confirmed by Ford execs earlier in the week. The two crossover vehicles are expected to be based on the Fairlane concept shown by Ford earlier this year, with versions planned for both the Ford and Lincoln brands. The identity and mission of the second sedan, the News says, are uncertain. So is E386 actually still alive, or is this a Mazda product? Or something else?
