Ford ESP from Ford Dealer at FloodFordESP.com prices

So this post is inspired by another thread that talks about the Ford ESP Warranty offered by the dealer. When I purchased my 2013 FFH I was offered the Ford ESP Warranty and I declined...thought it was too expensive and I was buying a brand new car so I didn't think I needed it anyway (at that cost, I should say). Well today, I thought more on it and decided to take a trip to the dealer where I purchased my vehicle and asked for the sales manager and I told him I researched the ESP online and found a website that offeres the same warranty for significant less money. I asked if he would match it. He took me to the finance office and told them to look into it and help me if they can. They did, they matched the warranty minus an extra $10 for good will.

So, for anyone interested in the warranty but don't want to pay dealer prices... its worth a shot to ask them to match it. I considered buying the warranty from floodfordesp.com but I figured it more credible/less hassle if I could get it from the dealer at that cost.

Give it a shot!

Oh btw. I asked them to match the 7 yr/100,00 mi. plan with $200 deduct which was $975 (Ford charges $$2,180.00 I think). When they wrote up the warranty, they selected the $0 deductible option by accident, I presume. floodfordesp.com charges $1590 for that plan (Ford charges $$2,795.00 I think, don't quote me)... so I made out even better :-)

I don't know about the term "good will" -- how much was the price they first offered you, was it much higher? So they matched the price and made $100 off the deal instead of $500 to $1,000 or whatever -- if they had such good will toward you, wouldn't they have started off with a halfway decent price with the knowledge that you could also search elsewhere, or were they counting on a customer's new car fever and being oblivious?

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Ford is great or anything..but I am saying most people who buy these extended warranties know nothing about floodfordesp.com (I didn't before coming to this forum a few days ago), and yes, they usually pay full price for the warranty and they roll it into their loan so they end up paying even MORE for the warranty over 3, 5, 7 years etc.

I'm simply saying, armed with the knowledge of floodfordesp.com, you can use that as a bargaining tool when to negotiate a much cheaper price for your extended warranty.. with possibly an extra $10 off the cheaper price :-)

Knowledge Is Power!

I don't think Ford is in the mix here, they set their price for an ESP and then each prices and sells it accordingly based on 'market conditions' I guess you'd call it. So when you exposed your dealer for first attempting to make hundreds from you, the term "good will" is just ironic.

My cousin is a GM at a Toyota dealer (wasn't enough to get me to buy a Toyota again), told me that a typical plan that a customer would buy for $1,695 is sold to the dealer for about $695 (prices differ by vehicle and plan but you get the idea)... so when you find one online for $785 (as I did with my Prius, several years ago), they are still making almost $100 on the deal and so the guys at Flood are probably making a whole lotta $100s from online customers.

Just FYI - FORD is not selling those warranties. You did not buy one from FORD you bought one from a Ford Dealer. Ford is the wholesaler and makes the same amount of money on each one regardless of how much the dealership gets for it.

And if Ford is only getting $700 and making money (if they weren't they wouldn't be selling them or they'd raise prices) that should tell you the odds of you getting back your investment of $1000-$2000.
