Ford had a great month, especially Escape, Fusion, Mustang, Taurus, and even Flex. Only models down year over year were Fiesta, MKS, and TC. Most impressed with Taurus sales. I also notice low inventories of Taurus around here at least. Adding the 2.0EB should put Taurus over 7,000/month consistently. Utilities seem to show the most growth for Ford. Mustang sales most impressive, and Escape sales are about as good as Ford could ever hope for short another plant to build them.

I wonder what the breakdown is 2012 vs 2013 on Escape sales - Is it fire sale on the 2012, the 2013 is that hot, or a little of both.

The release says the 2013 time on dealer lots is averaging 5 days, so I would say at the very least the 2013 is holding its own.

Mustang beat Camaro again. :P

Could it be that cool commercial with the little "swan girl" or were there enough new standard features in the 2013 to make the difference?

Drove a 2013 droptop and neither my wife or I wanted to give it back to Enterprise, amazing car, even with the V6!

I think the front and rear tweaks have improved the looks of the car across all trim levels considerably (although I prefer the 2012 GT500's front end).

31,000 Malibus??? Crikey.

Good to see both GM and Ford selling big numbers in the sweet spot of market. New Malibu starting up production at Poletown plant in MI soon along side Volt. Made in MI is exciting. Fusion soon also along with Focus and the Mustang of course. CA Chevy dealers are stating they could sell 50 Volts/month if they had them.

Right. I'm sure it is, just curious how the 13 is doing so we can project it out. I'm hoping the Kuga is a hit, even though I wouldn't drive one if it was given to me.

You can't project out what the 2013 is doing. It's sharply supply constrained right now.

I expect it will do fine. Over the past five years Ford's customer research has been spot on with the notable exception of the PowerShift, and I have a suspicion that their research there was overruled in a misguided rush to join hands with European ops and sing "It's a Small World"

It's going to be a huge success in spite of your railings against it. :P

Yeah, I think the 2013 Escape will be a huge homerun as it's better than dated 2012 in every way except for arguably no V6 model available. Ford is already working two shifts overtime at LAP and making about 3,500/month with third shift starting up later in year. I don't think Ford will miss a beat with new Escape. And millions of older Escapes are on road and many are prospective new Escape customers. It's a can't miss success barring any crazy, high profile recalls.

Considering I haven't driven one, but it seems like it might have been released a bit too soon and didn't quite meet what the consumers where expecting (who the vast majority of had torque converters with automatics for driving) in a transmission.

Edited OP to include Ford, GM.

Looks like a big month for the Lambdas... They've got great deals locally: $45k Acadia Denali leasing for 26mos for $399/mo.

Don't the 2013 Lambdas receive a heavy mid-cycle facelift? Perhaps GM is clearing out the old models to make way for the new ones.

The 2013 Lambda refresh ranges from mild to decent... Traverse gets new bumpers, new sacrifice panel, restyled lamp assemblies, and a new interior, Enclave gets some interior and front end freshenings, as well as finally blacking out the D-pillar, and Acadia gets a new front end and the new Traverse's interior, as well as sheetmetal from the defunct Saturn Outlook.

I don't think they go into production until November, so it seems a little early to be having firesales.

However, locally we also have $159 leases on Traverse, so the deals are quite generous.

I still find that to be absolutely hilarious. GMC: Professional Grade Hand-Me-Downs.

I mean seriously. Imagine if a refreshed Lincoln MKS was launched using Montego sheet metal.
