New Ford B-MAX Achieves Best-In-Class Fuel Economy and CO2 Emissions for Diesel and Petrol Models

• Ford’s new B-MAX compact multi-activity vehicle will deliver best-in-class fuel economy in both diesel and petrol categories

• Ford’s new 1.0-litre EcoBoost 120PS petrol engine is 15 per cent more economical than key competitors. The 1.6-litre TDCi 95PS diesel also beats rivals on fuel economy and CO2 emissions

• Ford low-CO2 technologies can help owners save almost £390 per year

Ford B Max Forum – The all-new Ford B-MAX – the versatile multi-activity vehicle debuting this year – sets a new standard in its class for fuel economy and CO2 emissions with Ford’s latest petrol and diesel engines.

The B-MAX with a 1.0-litre 120PS EcoBoost petrol engine will offer 114g/km CO2 emissions and fuel economy of 57.6mpg. Customers could save £387 per year compared with B-MAX’s petrol rivals, which trail with fuel consumption under 50mpg.

The new B-MAX powered by a 1.6-litre TDCi engine delivers 104g/km CO2 emissions and 70.6mpg. This compares with 119 g/km CO2 figures from competing multi-activity vehicles on the market.

“Our goal with B-MAX was to redefine the segment through technology and ingenuity – and that includes delivering the very best fuel economy,” said Barb Samardzich, vice president, Product Development, Ford of Europe.

The B-MAX features a range of technologies which reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. These include Auto-Start-Stop, which automatically shuts down the engine when the vehicle is at idle; the Ford Eco Mode driver information system, which helps drivers adopt a more economical driving style; Gear Shift Indicator, to highlight the most efficient gear changing points; and Smart Regenerative Charging, which charges the battery at the most economical points in a journey.

Bringing the B-MAX to production demanded a new approach to door construction, which has resulted in wide-open access for drivers, passengers and luggage; with the centre pillars integrated into the doors themselves. The B-MAX also will deliver superior craftsmanship and high quality materials rarely found on an affordable compact car, together with flexible-seating and class-leading load-space.

The all-new B-MAX will debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month and go on sale in the UK in September.

* Fuel cost information calculated on 12,000 miles annual mileage using official combined fuel consumption and petrol cost of £1.335/litre. All fuel consumption and CO2 emissions figures in g/km are from officially approved tests in accordance with EC Directive 93/116/EC. Fuel economy figures quoted are based on the European Fuel Economy Directive EU 80/1268/EEC and will differ from fuel economy drive cycle results in other regions of the world.
