robpinion
I bought a used 2004 Town Car Ultimate. The interior door handle on the passenger side broke and was sticking out in a 60 degree angle from where it should be. To fix this will cost $200 for labor and $950 for the door panel. Yes, the entire door panel has to be replaced because some stupid plastic part broke. Can you believe that. Now comes the good news. The driver side handle did the same thing. I'm looking at $2200 of repairs on a car that cost $10,000. One fifth the price of the car to fix two broken plastic door handles. Someone please wake me from this bad dream. I'm looking for the door panels on salvage sites with no luck so far. I've paid over $150 to have the door looked at and the problem diagnosed. I was advised by the mechanic to look for a used part, but apparently these door panels are in high demand -- probably because of the same problem
Bored of Pisteon
Better off buying a salvage vehicle titled car for parts and save yourself the trouble and the money in the long run. That's if you have extra money and room to store the car! Thanks for the heads up!
Vicwibi
Just put a ring to cover the broken plastic panel, 10 minutes its done. Stop wasting your money.
