It figures you would feel compelled to declare your orientation (like we even care). Everybody knows that repressed homosexuality is a characteristic of right wing ideologues and people bent toward authoritarianism. That has been a known truth since psychologists studied Nazi war criminals after WWII. Democrats boink their interns and drive off frozen bridges with their secretaries. When you come up with something like Ted Haggard or Larry Craig, it's always a Republican.

I remember one of you guys said that Palin scared the Dems, who seems to be scared?

Debates leave room for presidential candidates to spar

but the McCain camp fought for and won a much more structured approach for the questioning at the vice presidential debate, advisers to both campaigns said.

There will also be much less opportunity for free-wheeling, direct exchanges between the running mates.

Wow, that's a whole bunch of intellectual internet psycho babble over just a joke. The Nazi's were left wing by the way, not right wing, sorry to ruin your theory. I have some good friends that are gay, are you implying that I must also be gay just because I have gay friends? Finally I may have declared my orientation, but so what. I wasn't the one who invited another man to "bite me". Now I know that he was joking, and he knows that I was joking, so why don't you get right the fuck over it.

Ah in come the swear words. Hit a sensitive spot, did I? Here, read up:

Two types of totalitarianism can sometimes be distinguished: Nazism and Fascism which evolved from "right-wing" extremism, and Communism, which evolved from "left-wing" extremism. Traditionally, each is supported by different social classes. Right-wing totalitarian movements have generally drawn their popular support primarily from middle classes seeking to maintain the economic and social status quo. Left-wing totalitarianism has often developed from working class movements seeking, in theory, to eliminate, not preserve, class distinctions. Right-wing totalitarianism has typically supported and enforced the private ownership of industrial wealth. A distinguishing feature of Communism, by contrast, is the collective ownership of such capital.

You cons think that if you just repeat a lie enough times it becomes true - such is the depth of your delusion. 9/11 Saddam 9/11 Saddam 9/11 Saddam 9/11 Saddam 9/11 Saddam WMDs WMDs WMDs WMDs WMDs WMDs WMDs death tax death tax death tax death tax death tax ... (or are you such a simpleton that the inclusion of the word "Socialism" in Nazism's name throws off your awareness of its essential elements?) Nazism is a right wing ideology. Period. And the association between repressed homosexuality and conservative beliefs is not psychobabble - it is well known and documented fact. It has even made its way into popular culture - witness the initiation scene at Omega frat in "Animal House", which was rife with homosexual S&M tension. The two frats in that movie perfectly embodied the difference between the Democrat and Republican mindset. You know it - and that's what's getting you all cranked up.

p.s. - we all know you were joking. Take a pill already.

I'm reading this and am curious. In what way is the idea of "nation above individual" a right-wing ideology? This was the focus of Nazism.

The following passage was taken from the History Channel.

Also crucial to Nazi party ideology was the role of Hitler as party leader. To the Nazis, Hitler was the guiding visionary who would lead the German nation to a glorious future as the master race of the world. He was, therefore, to be followed without question. The concept of a single master and goal reflected Nazi belief that the needs of the nation were more important than those of the individual. Only if the Germans worked together as one nation, following an absolute leader, would they be able to fulfil their destiny as the master race.

I understand how being Patriotic could be misconstrued as advocating a "nation above individual" ideology, but from where I stand as a conservative, it's a matter of choice (and a reflection of character) what form the patriotism takes. Conservatives focus on the individual and the power is held by the individual. If not, the Bill of Rights (including the 2nd Amendment) would have no meaning.

When I hear paying taxes is "patriotic" (

), this seems directly in line with the aformentioned (Nazi) attitudes.

Mussolini said, "Everything in the state, nothing outside the state." (NOTE: Mussolini was not a Nazi, but a Socialist)

This also seems right in line with left-wing ideology, since they advocate Federal Government control of many (all?) aspects of our lives (education, healthcare, retirement, income, etc.).

Fine. Mussolini was pro-nazi. (splitting hairs here)

It only furthers my point. Here is an excerpt of the article you linked.

Anti-individualistic, the Fascist conception of life stresses the importance of the State and accepts the individual only in so far as his interests coincide with those of the State, which stands for the conscience and the universal, will of man as a historic entity (11). It is opposed to classical liberalism which arose as a reaction to absolutism and exhausted its historical function when the State became the expression of the conscience and will of the people. Liberalism denied the State in the name of the individual; Fascism reasserts

The rights of the State as expressing the real essence of the individual (12). And if liberty is to he the attribute of living men and not of abstract dummies invented by individualistic liberalism, then Fascism stands for liberty, and for the only liberty worth having, the liberty of the State and of the individual within the State (13). The Fascist conception of the State is all embracing; outside of it no human or spiritual values can exist, much less have value. Thus understood, Fascism, is totalitarian, and the Fascist State - a synthesis and a unit inclusive of all values - interprets, develops, and potentates the whole life of a people (14).

No individuals or groups (political parties, cultural associations, economic unions, social classes) outside the State (15). Fascism is therefore opposed to Socialism to which unity within the State (which amalgamates classes into a single economic and ethical reality) is unknown, and which sees in history nothing but the class struggle. Fascism is likewise opposed to trade unionism as a class weapon. But when brought within the orbit of the State, Fascism recognizes the real needs which gave rise to socialism and trade unionism, giving them due weight in the guild or corporative system in which divergent interests are coordinated and harmonized in the unity of the State (16).

Or in present day Wall Street it could be in line with Wing Nut ideology as well...(AIG, Fannie Mae, Freddy Mac) Guess Socialism is only Socialism when it applies to left-wing ideology, huh? Can you imagine if a Dem was in charge of the Executive pulling this bail out shit! Freerepublic.com would make for entertaining reading...not that it doesn't now.

The difference between right-wing 'Socialism' and left-wing 'Socialism' is the order. Conservatives prefer government as the last resort, as opposed to the Left who see it as the default position.

I am also under RangerM at Freerepublic.com. I've been there since '04. Feel free to search for me there if you wish to dig up dirt. I doubt you'll find the kind of stuff (that you expect) there, that you would find at democraticunderground.com.

Actually many (there), including me, are conflicted on this bailout crap. I'm not thrilled by the idea of the bailout, since government contributed to the problem we are in now. (Community Reinvestment Act and the elimination of "redlining", and the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac acquisition of these bad loans)
